- 13 - L y r a - What's Up With Her?

“Is it just me, or has Ella been acting extremely oddly recently?” Roxie asked me when I entered my room with snacks for the two of us.

‘It’s not just you.” I mumbled, trying not to spill the Roxie and I’s drinks. “Can you take this from me? I filled it too full and I’m gonna drop everything else in my arms if you don’t.”

“Yeah sure. On your desk?”

“Yes please.”

We got everything spread out on my desk, then started eating. I glanced out the window in time to see the mail truck pull up.

“Thank god they haven’t gotten back yet. The mail is here.”

“But they’ll be back any moment now! I’ll go check it, since I don’t get cold.” Roxie said as she ran downstairs with me behind her.

“Thanks! I’ll wait in my room!” I called after her as she ran down the driveway. I hurried up to my room and looked outside for my moms car. The mail lady was now a few houses down, and oxie was looking through the mail. She pulled out a letter and waved it at me before shoving everything back into the mailbox and running back inside. Just as she turned onto the front walk from the driveway, I saw my Mother’s car coming up the road. She door opened and closed a few seconds later.

“HURRY! THEY’VE TURNED INTO THE DRIVEWAY!”

Roxie ran into my room as the front door opened again and shoved the envelope into my arms as footsteps could be heard on the stairs. I ran over to my bed, stuffed the letter under my pillow and turned around just as my bedroom door opened.

“Lyra? Is Roxie he- ah, she is.

“Hello Mrs. Faulls.”

“Hello Roxie. That’s all I wanted to know. Don’t make too much noise.”

“Yes mother. Where’s Marie? I thought you were picking her up?”

“I did. She’s getting the mail.”

“Oh.”

Mother left the room.

“Well, Marie will be happy. I saw about seven things addressed to her when I was looking for that.” Roxie whispered and Mothers steps faded away.

“Not unusual. Tet Ella?”

“Already did. She’s on her way. She’ll be dropped of in maybe 10 minutes.”

“Cool.”

 

When Ella got here, we told her that the next letter was here. She made a face, then smiled before telling me to read it. I looked at Roxie, who was already looking at me, then began reading.”

 

Dear Lyra and friends,

Thank you so much for your pictures. They’re beautiful! The drawings are amazing, and Roxie did ask us a few questions. The others wrote their answers down on separate papers, and they’re included in the envelope. Here are my answers:

First off, I hope you guys know what we look like, and our age, since your fans. I prefer Narwhals to Unicorns, Christmas is my favorite holiday because I get to spend time with my family, I’m single, I have most social media, and my celebrity crush is Mila Kunis. I have a dog named Molly, my favorite color is blue and my favorite food is pizza. As for my favorite place to visit, I don’t really have one. Each place is unique and different and special, and the best in it’s own way. If I got the chance to meet you guys, I would take it in a heartbeat.
