Melody's POV:
..........................

Before Harry spits his venom on the lawyer, I intrude my reply: “He’s my boyfriend, and I don’t like keeping anything from him. Whatever you have to say sir, you could say it in front of him. (I grip on Harry’s handhold tighter, assuring him that I can handle this) You could start if you may.” Harry is quiet, and I assume he is satisfied by my calm defence.

The lawyer doesn’t say any more words about this topic, as he sits down and opens his briefcase. “Could you open it, please?” He hands me a closed envelope, and I stare at it. I am terrified to open it, because I really can’t handle seeing my dad’s handwriting.

“You want me to open it, babe?” Harry suggests softly, and I nod. “That’s alright young man. If she doesn’t want to open it, I am in charge to do so. It would be illegal if you did, that’s why.”

I nudge Harry’s shoulder, emphasising for him to give the letter to the lawyer. He huffs, and I understand that he is pissed from this snob attorney, but he places the letter on the coffee table. The family lawyer, opens the envelope, and slides the sheet of paper out.

“Would you like me to read it, then summarise what are the inherited properties?” I reply directly: “Yes, please.” At the sound of my reply, his eyes begin to scan the letter, as Harry’s thumb brushes my hand in his.

“(I whisper in his ear) Could you tell Albert to come here?” He looks at me, hesitating whether he must move or not. He finally nods, and stands up to leave the room. “Alright, I guess I could fill you in with all of your inheritance.”He pauses, and I reply: “Please do begin.”

“Since you are the only legal daughter of Mr. Willard Cramer, you are in control of all of his bank accounts, stocks, landmark deeds, companies, and finally you are claimed with this mansion, along with the penthouse in Milan, Italy. As in total of all the cash amount from the bank, stocks and deeds; you will have an amount of (He snaps a calculator out of his briefcase, and taps the digits in caution).”

He turns the screen of the calculator towards me, to show me the total; I literally begin to cough nonstop. “43.9 American Million Dollars. Including the five companies, and the penthouse in Milan; I guarantee you that if you use a dollar bill each day as a tissue napkin, they would last for a hundred and five years.”

My financial prayers have final reached a positive answer. I don’t know how to react, because I have to be in charge of everything right now. I always knew I’m rich, but I never bothered to think of such responsibility before; my dad used to handle all of this. “I’m sorry, it’s just too much to handle.” I tell the lawyer, and with my statement said; Harry and Albert show up. “What’s too much to handle?”

Harry walks closer and sits beside me like he was before he left. “It’s not a big of a deal, Miss Cramer. You can always hire eligible people to run the business for you. You could even set a single person to be in charge of the companies; such as a main boss for a simpler definition.” Hire someone? Who could take over my dad’s companies… well my companies to be precise?

“Babe? Do you have someone in mind?” Harry coos in my ear, and I sigh thinking of the one. I begin to question myself: Who knows my dad and is capable of taking over? Who is so organized and efficient for this position? Who would I trust with everything? I don’t have any family members; my dad was practically the only child in our family.

Who’s like family to me, and cares about my interest all the time? Who deserves me granting him/her the opportunity to take over the Cramer Empire? The perfect candidate’s image flashes in my mind, and my eyes search the room to look at him with complete satisfaction.
