"You're not listening to me!" Jillian insisted to Shae.

Shae was pacing Jillian's bedroom while Jillian sat on her bed arguing with her.

"There has to be someone to know," Shae reasoned.

"He was wearing a mask! He never said a word."

"I'm scared as fuck."

"You're scared?!

"I'm scared for you! I saw the way that guy moved, how strong and aggressive he was, how easily he overpowered you. If I wasn't there you'd be dead. You had no means of defense."

"What was I supposed to do?!"

"You shouldn't be left alone."

"Shae, you're smaller than I am."

"Hey, who's the one who hit him with a bat?!"

"You're saying I need a bodyguard?"

"Do you have a better option?"

"The school has cameras."

"The cameras caught nothing. But the guys obviously a student here. Do you know who would have that kind of fight ethic?"

"I don't know, it's been a while since I was on the wrestling team," Jillian jeered.

Shae glared at her.
"Don't give sass."

"I'm sorry."

"I'm just trying to figure this out the same as you."

"My head hurts," Jillian groaned.

"I'm sorry... you shouldn't be thinking about this."

"Did I thank you yet? For saving my life?"

"You may have."

"Well... thanks... again. Darren said you were really great to me."

"Jillian, I love you too. You're my best friend."

"So are you. I love you, too."

"Darren was really the one who needed to calm the fuck down. I had to restrain him from attacking the nurse."

"I just hope you know... I would've done the same thing for you."

"Oh, I know you would've."

"Did you hit him well?"

"Well, well enough right? I got him off you. It was a big bat though, should leave a mark on him."

"A mark..."

"Didn't we try looking for a bruise on the last guy but that didn't turn out well."

"I probably didn't notice it on the guy because he was avoiding me."

"Jillian, I hit him in the head hard with a wooden bat. You can't get rid of an injury like that. That's going to leave a bruise for months."

"Then... we just wait."

"What are you going to be doing now?"

"There's not going to be another attack for a while."

"What do you mean?"

"He disappeared for 3 weeks after attacking Darren. How long is he going to disappear after nearly killing me?"

"Maybe... If it seems like someone is really trying to avoid you... or is suspiciously MIA... that could tell us something."
