"Jillian?"

Jillian opened her eyes at the sound of Darren's voice.

"Hm?"

"Oh, my god, you're awake!"

"Darren?"

"I'm here."

Jillian tried to move and saw that she on a hospital bed.

"No, don't try to sit up," he cautioned her.

"What happened?"

"You passed out. You also have a lot of bad bruising."

"Cameron..."

"The police came right after you passed out. They got him."

"He tried to kill me."

"You fought back. I'm so proud of you."

Jillian sat up.

"No, don't-"

"It's okay, I'm fine," she assured

Darren sat down on the bed next to her.

"What time is it?" She asked.

"8am."

"You're not at school."

"I skipped. Shae called me from the ambulance. I've been in the waiting room for six hours."

"Where's Shae? And Jesse?"

"Waiting room. I should go tell them you're awake."

"Wait, not yet."

"Okay. How are you really?"

"Shaken up, angry, hurt, scared."

"Come here," he wrapped his arms around her. "You're okay now."

"Thanks for coming," she whispered.

"Of course. I'm... really glad you're okay."

"I am, too," she thought for a minute. "This may be a bad time to mention it, but you still owe me another date."

"I suppose I do," he laughed.

"Well?"

"Well what?"

"You know what."

"Jillian... you just went through something really traumatic. You're really banged up. You shouldn't be doing anything strenuous. You need to rest."

"I've been kept away from you for too long."

"Well..."

"Jillian? Oh, my god, you're awake!" Jesse came into the room and Shae followed.

"Jillian!"

"Yeah, hey," she smiled at them.

"How're you feeling?" Jesse asked.

"I'm fine, it's okay."

"You have some pretty bad bruising on your sides as well as around your neck," Shae explained.

"But, you should be fine to go home as long as you take it easy," Jesse added.

"It's good you can sit up on your own."

"Yeah, I feel fine," Jillian insisted. 

"You were given medicine for the pain, so that's probably why," Jesse told her.
