Cloud Recesses
Lan Zhan had rested the day at Cloud Recesses. His uncle was out, so he couldn't discuss the arranged marriage matter with his uncle.
Lan Zhan couldn't wait anymore, thinking that Wei Ying might reach Yi An anytime. Hence, bidding goodbye to Lan XiChen, he left for Yi An first.

The next morning, Uncle Jiang went to Wei Ying's room. "Wei Ying, this... this is the ring your parents exchanged with Lan QiRen. This is supposed to be your partner's ring.
I heard what Yanli told you last night. If you really choose to run away, I won't say anything. This ring, I'm sure your parents would want you to let the person you really love wear it."
With that, Uncle Jiang left Wei Ying alone. Wei Ying stared at the ring and imagined Lan Zhan wearing it. He then finally showed a smile.
Actually... there was another reason why he was hesitating so much... a few days ago, he had a nightmare.
A nightmare, so real and horrifying, truly deserving to be called a nightmare. It was Lan Zhan who shook him out of it and Wei Ying had really frightened Lan Zhan with a sudden nightmare.
In his nightmare, he watched helplessly as Uncle Jiang and Madam Yu, his adoptive parents, Jiang Yanli, his precious ShiJie, and the rest of Yunmeng disciples faced their death. He also watched Jiang Cheng, his best buddy, playmate and brother, falling into despair.
Wei Ying, had always felt indebted to the Jiang family, for making him feel like he had a home. Having a dream that felt more real than reality, he definitely could not just leave them behind.
Yesterday Madam Yu saying "I can't control you anyway", was her way of telling him to do as he wishes.
Jiang Cheng coming to find him afterwards was his way of checking on him and when he left to let Wei Ying have some alone time, it was to give him space.
Last night, Jiang Yanli bringing him his favourite lotus root and pork rib soup and telling him to run away was hey way of showing her love towards her brother.
This morning, Jiang FengMian passing him the ring, was hinting to him to run away if he wanted to, and that Jiang FengMian wouldn't blame him.
With all the love and concern they showed him, all the more he couldn't just leave them. Especially since he has always felt that he has a debt he couldn't repay no matter what. Not even with his life.
Hence, even though Lan Zhan is his life, he couldn't just run to Lan Zhan. He wouldn't want to see the Jiang Family, his adoptive family, landing in the state in his dreams.
Even if Wei Ying gave up his love for the Jiang Family, he felt that it would never be enough as he wouldn't even be alive if not for the Jiang Family.
Hence, making his decision, he quickly prepared himself and set off for Yi An, wanting to see Lan Zhan for the last time.
