7:25 PM rolled around and you were excited for the coming dinner.
Of course you were dolled up, but you had a different look going on tonight. You'd pulled your tight curls back into a bun, slicked your edges down, and defined your gorgeous brows. Your hairline looked so smooth, your face looked sharp, and your figure was mouthwatering. You wore a pair of fake leather black pants, black-pointed toed heels, and a fitted maroon turtleneck sweater.
Your doorbell rang at 7:30 PM. "Come on in, the door is open!" You called to the door. You put in small, golden hoops, and then grabbed a giant black and white plaid scarf. The door opened, Sā stood in your doorway with a bouquet of mixed flowers, in his black suit. He had apparently lost his tie along the way, looking incredibly attractive in his suit without the tie.
"Good evening Sā, ready to eat?" You smiled brightly, teeth sparkling like stars. His cheeks colored slightly at the sight of you and he smiled back at you. The two of you walked out of your home, locked your front door, and then climbed into his car and drove towards the restaurant. The two of you chatted about how his work day ended, he'd had two other video conferences with other agencies, an odd phone call with Best Jeanist, and an unexpected butt dial from a furious Endeavor. The two of you giggled about Endeavor, he could be a true nut.
"Here we are, please let me get your door!" He leapt vigorously from his seat and pulled your door open, his cheeks were once again pink. The two of you were immediately sat within the restaurant, in a dimly lit corner booth. Menus were placed before you, and you immediately ordered. Neither of you could help it, you'd read up on the menus before entering the restaurant. It was a relaxing, flirtatious night. His eyes sparkled when you laughed, your cheeks were red from laughing at his commentary. The two of you couldn't have been having a better time, even if you tried!
9:45 PM arrived and Sā dropped you off at home. You hugged him goodnight, and told him to let you know when he got home safely. He smiled at your request, and pulled away once you were inside your home. You were entirely surprised to see Toshi sitting on your couch with a large bowl of popcorn as he scrolled through your television's options.
"Oh hey Tosh, I didn't expect you for another fifteen minutes. Let me switch into my pjs." You walked into your room, released your hair from its confines, slipped into a pair of black sweatpants and a lightweight white t-shirt. You microwaved a cup of water for some chamomile tea. Finally, you sat beside the busiest hero in Japan.
"Hey you, how've you been? I've missed you." You snuggled into his side, getting quite comfortable.
"I'm not going to teach at UA this fall. But I will start next year. I think. I need to do more...." you looked up at him, he appeared to be straining himself. You beamed up to him, smiling joyfully, trying to help him relax.
"Tosh, relax. I'll protect you, I'll be your friend no matter what. Talk to me, if you can't talk right now, let's just sit and relax. I have some foot exfoliating bags we can use." He seemed tense, more tense than usual. It had been a while since the two of you had spent more intimate time together. Maybe he was anxious about that? You weren't sure, neither of you had labeled anything, nor had you ever really spoken about the emotions you both shared. In the moment, you decided that it would be best to let everything naturally develop, not to force anything.
Here you both were, he hadn't responded to your proposition about the spa treatment. You took the remote from him, selected a cooking show you'd been following. It wasn't a competition, more of a "How To Master X" where they would cook difficult dishes each episode and explain the how and why behind it all. This week, they were focusing on French pastries, something you were keenly interested in. Unfortunately for you, you did not notice the man beside you tense and clench the popcorn bowl more ferociously.
"Y/N. We need to talk. No. I need to talk to you and you need to listen. Turn that off please." He sounded nervous, anxious, and his tone was urgent. Immediately the television was turned off, you had turned to face him, and now you saw the worry in his eyes.
"Toshi-" "Don't speak please." He interrupted.
"Y/N, I've never been intimate with someone before, well, someone like you. I've never felt like this before, and I'm terrified. I'm the Symbol of Peace. Villains and people will try to find my weakness, and I could never lead them to you. I wouldn't know how to continue on if I hurt someone else ever again. You empower me and make me feel like I can do anything. But, when I'm away for weeks at a time, unable to protect you, I am nearly broken. What would happen if I couldn't get back to you in time? It would break me." His eyes were welling up. It was a side to your good friend you'd never seen before. His words were connecting to your ears, but your brain was struggling with keeping up with everything that he was saying. You could understand the emotion and pain radiating from his body, but his words were still swimming in between your ears.
"I think what I'm trying to say is... I... really care for you. This is a new sensation for me, and I don't know how to exactly act or think or be. I want to be perfect for you, because you're too perfect for me. You're beautiful, powerful, beloved, and independent. I know you can handle yourself in a battle... but there are villains out there that even I struggle against. And if someone like that ever came to find out about you-" it was your turn to interrupt the anxious man before you. You didn't know what to say, how to comfort or relax him with words, but your lizard brain reacted on instinct. Your lips had connected with his.
Craning your head towards him, you wrapped your arms around his massive frame as much as you could. You felt his tears run onto your own cheeks, your right hand found his and you gripped it intensely. You needed to convey to this hero, your hero, your very good friend, that he mattered, and that he didn't fight alone. The emotional make out session came to an end, both of your eyes wet with tears.
"Toshi, I am nowhere near capable of easing any of your fears. But, I will tell you three things: first, I will always support you and be here for you, no matter what we are to each other. Secondly, I've survived a lot of horrible villains Toshi, I'm not even close to being 10% as strong as you. But I am a survivor. I am a shadow, and as long as the sun rises, I will exist. And finally, I hear you. I too have feelings for you, and I want to explore whatever this is with you. I'm nowhere near perfect, no one is, but you and I, we can work because we can communicate and we share so many values." You smiles into his eyes, making sure he was making eye contact with you.
"Y/N, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. You're my rock, and I'm so appreciative. Thank you for putting up with me, I need to go now. I'm sorry. I have to get home." He went to stand, but you pulled him back to the couch.
"Toshinori Yagi, if you get up and leave my home before you stop crying. I will be very upset with you. You don't have to hide your true self. I've seen the other you."
His body stiffened. You froze, releasing your hold on his body. You hadn't meant to say that at all. Well, you had, but maybe not in this moment. But you'd had an inkling that this was the reason he was running away.
"You've seen that.... and you're still kissing me?" He asked, his voice an absolute whisper. The following eye contact was more intense than any eye contact you'd ever held before.
"Yes, Toshi, I have." You whispered back. You didn't understand what was happening, but you did adore every piece of Toshinori Yagi. Moments later, steam erupted from his body. As if he was deflating, he shrank, he coughed violently, and then he was there. Much skinnier and more hollowed eyes, but there he was.
Once more, your body reacted before you could think of words to say. Your arms wrapped around his shoulders and your lips delicately pressed against his cheek.
"I see you Toshi. I see you."
