Chapter Eight: Troll In The Forest

LUNA'S POV

"How's the Lacewing coming?" I looked into the cauldron,

"It's still red; but they seem to be dissolving a bit" I read in the book that they weren't supposed to completely liquefy; It'll just soften it so that you can mix it easily. Draco walked out from the bathroom; he had just finished up Quidditch practice and he needed a shower; so while he was cleaning up I started writing the essay part of the assignment. We had to document every process; give notes on the little things that we notice.

'It's a deeper red but the Lacewing itself didn't really change; hopefully it'll be a deep burgundy by the time we have to mix everything'

"How's it coming?" I jumped and looked over my shoulder; seeing Draco leaning over my shoulder and reading my notes.

"Fine, do you feel better now that you've had your shower?" he nodded and got up; running the towel over his hair to dry it a bit; I had to admit he was attractive when his hair was wet like that.

'Luna delete that from your mind right now' I played with my radish necklace as Draco finished up; pulling a Slytherin sweater over his white shirt.

"Should we grab our Fluxweed?" I nodded; getting up from the bed and grabbing a bag.

"Where are we going again?"

"At first I thought of going to Professor Sprout but I was told by Cho that she didn't have any; her and Hermione already tried going there earlier this week to ask" he nodded,

"So the only other place is the Forbidden Forest" his eyes widened a bit,

"But we aren't allowed in there?"

"Well where else are we supposed to find it?" he shrugged and nodded,

"Good point" he replied; we left the common room and headed towards the courtyard; it was already 8:30 so we didn't have much time to find the fluxweed before curfew.

"Do you know where to look?"

"Well I know that it likes dark places so maybe behind trees? Or inside of caves?"

"Yes that narrows it down" I waved him off as we walked closer to the forest; once we were there I noticed how much darker it is inside; I could feel it getting colder too. I wrapped my arms around myself; I should've brought an extra sweater.

"Are you cold?" I looked over and saw him taking his sweater off,

"Draco no I don't want you getting sick-" my voice was muffled when he put the sweater over my head; I had no choice but to put my arms threw and popped my head out from the top. I glared at Draco as I took my hair out from the hood. I instantly felt warmer; but I was still worried about Draco; I mean he just had a shirt underneath.

"Are you sure Draco-"

"-Positive now shut up" I rolled my eyes but didn't say anything else; the clouds above us were getting darker; I was worried that it was going to rain.

"Let's hope we find this thing soon" I nodded; looking behind a tree; nothing. I heard a tree snap and looked to my left; nothing. I felt my heartbeat pick up but ignored it.

When I picked up a decent sized rock I smiled; seeing a couple of fluxweed underneath. I picked up the bright green plant and put it in my bag.

"Got it!" I looked up but frowned when I didn't see Draco,

"Draco?" I called; I didn't hear a reply.

"Draco this isn't funny; come out please" I bit my lip and held my hands together; walking deeper into the woods.

Where was he? I swear I saw him a minute ago; where could he have gone? I heard another snap of a tree branch and looked over; and saw two large green feet. I slowly looked up and gasped; seeing a giant troll standing in front of me. It looked down and grunted; seeing me in his way. He took his club and raised it; I let out a scream and ducked under a tree as he smashed it down beside me; barely missing.

"Luna!" I could hear Draco in the distance and cried out,

"Draco!" I screamed; running out of the way again because of his club. I looked to my left and saw a cave; when the troll wasn't looking I ran towards the cave; diving inside. The troll must've seen me because next thing I knew I saw a hand reach inside; trying to grab my legs. I screamed louder and shuffled to the corner; pulling my legs to my chest. He's just missing my legs; squirming around I hear him grunt in frustration.

"Luna!" I could hear that he was close now; really close.

"Draco help! I'm in the cave" I screamed when the trolls hands touched me; I grabbed onto a rock that grew up from the ground; I didn't want to die like this. I could feel the grip on the troll loosen; he slips and I feel him cut me in my arm; I cried out as he let me go. I fell to the floor and quickly backed up; leaving a trail of blood. He reached his hand back inside but before he could grab me again I heard someone shout a spell; the hand shifted and quickly left. Now, I could see what was outside. I saw Draco pointing his wand from behind the tree; he quickly stuns the troll; my whole body jumped when the troll fell unconscious. I was shaking like crazy; I was still holding onto the rock. It wasn't until I saw Draco run in when I felt the tears fall down my cheeks.

"Luna! Oh my god are you okay?!" I looked up at Draco and let go of the rock; he knelled down and grabbed me by the arms; hoisting me up and pulling me in his arms.

"I didn't know where you were; I thought I had found a fluxweed but realized that it was just tall grass; by the time I turned around you were gone. It wasn't until I heard you scream that I knew where you were" I nodded and gripped his arm; he had to hold to me the whole way back. It wasn't until we made it back to Hogwarts when he noticed the deep gash down my arm.

"Luna your arm!" I looked down and sure enough; Draco's sweater had a rip in it and it was soaked in blood.

"Draco I'm sorry about your sweater I'll get you a new one" he looked at me as if I was crazy,

"I'm not worried about the sweater Luna; we need to get you to the hospital wing before it gets infected" I nodded and let him drag me to the hospital; I was realizing how much blood I had lost because my legs were beginning to feel like jelly and I was light headed.

"Draco" I said lightly, slowing down to a stop. He turned and walked back to me,

"Luna why are you stopping? We're almost there" I gripped my head and leaned onto the wall.

"I don't feel so good" I felt my hand slip and I tumbled into Draco's arms; I heard him sigh as he lifted me up in his arms.

"You need to be more careful Luna" I nodded but I wasn't really listening anymore; I leaned into his shoulder and closed my eyes; I feel like if I didn't feel so dizzy I would've felt embarrassed.

"I grabbed the Fluxweed" I mumbled; turning into his neck more. I felt him nod,

"Was that before or after you almost got trampled on?" I smacked his chest and I felt him laugh; his chest rumbling.

"Too soon?"

"Shut up"
