"THAT'S ALL FOR now! The assignment is due by Monday, enjoy your weekend!"
As if on instinct, the class rushed to pack their stuff and bolted out of the classroom. It was Friday and by ninth period, everyone was anticipating the weekend. It was the only day of the week where students could relax and be themselves. I stood up, placing my backpack onto my chair. I zipped it open, placing my books calmly inside. A voice called out my name, causing my head to pick up towards the classroom door.
Taehyung peeked in the doorway, a hand cupped around the side of his mouth. He walked inside the classroom, reaching my desk. He stood on the other side of my desk, hands stuffed in his front pockets as he smiled at me.
"Hey."
I raised an eyebrow at him, confused as to why he was here, "Hey. What are you doing here?"
"I always meet you after class," He responded, his eyebrows furrowed as he spoke.
I stayed silent, zipping my bag, swinging it over my shoulder. Before Miyeon showed up, Taehyung and I would meet up after school and walk home together. It was unusual to me, since he either meets me at my locker or by the school gate. Post Miyeon, he stopped doing that with me.
We both exited the classroom, walking side by side in the hallway. He glanced down at me, "My mom is coming home a little late today so I'm probably not gonna go home right away."
I furrowed my eyebrows at him, "So what are you gonna do then?"
"I'll probably wait for you - maybe we could hang out."
"But don't you always hang out with Miyeon?"
"I do," he spoke, smiling at me. "but that doesn't mean I don't miss spending time with you."
I raised my eyebrows, widening my eyes at his words. We haven't spent much time together outside of school or group activities lately. I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss having him around. The fact he missed me too made my stomach feel all fuzzy. A smile played on my lips, my arms crossing over my chest as I took a glimpse down at my feet.
"How sweet of you," I spoke playfully.
We continued the rest of the walk to my locker in comfortable silence, blissfully enjoying each other's company. After turning the corner, I stood in front of my locker, twisting the lock to unlock it. Taehyung stood at my side, leaning his back against the locker beside me, hands stuffed in his pocket. He watched my movements as I placed my binders into my backpack.
"Are you trying out for varsity this year?" He questioned me, raising an eyebrow in my direction.
I took a brief glance at him as I spoke, "Probably not. Volleyball is fun but not enough to make me want to go to varsity."
