THE SOUND OF laughter echoed through the empty field, Jieun's gleeful expression lighting the night. She stood in the center of the softball field, breathing in the beautiful moment. I, on the other hand, stood from the fence patiently watching her every move. She spun around slowly, getting a glimpse at the view, "Can you believe it? We actually have a chance of making the playoffs."

I smiled, swinging my bag over my shoulder, "You bet we do."

She smiled back at me, walking towards my figure. The two of us walked off the field, making our way to the school's entrance. Her hand slipped under my arm, the two of us walking arm in arm. The night sky loomed over us, the calmness sending blissful chills down my spine. My leg continued to stumble as I walked, the pain spreading towards the curve of my thigh.

Jieun glanced down, frowning, "You sure you're going to be alright?"

"Yeah, I probably just twisted it or something. If anything, my mom will take me to the hospital," I spoke, attempting to reassure her.

She smiled at me, "Well that's good."

We enveloped into silence - the good kind. My mind reminisced to Taehyung, reliving our intense gazes. It was such a short moment, yet it managed to leave the biggest impact. After being friends for years, we've managed to never fight with each other. My outbursts at the bleachers the other day and on the beach trip left a hole in my heart. It's made me realize how much I'm pushing him away, just to get over my crush. It couldn't have meant anything, but the cheerful, whimsical glint in his eye made me feel hopeful. It gave me faith that he forgave me, even if he hadn't expressed it in words.

"I think someone else might take you," Jieun spoke, a playful smile forming on her face.

I furrowed my eyebrows at her, relocating my gaze towards the school entrance. Leaning against the school gate was none other than Taehyung himself, the boy typing away on his phone. He glanced his head up at our presence, stuffing his phone in his pocket before waving towards us. I chuckled at the sight, shaking my head. Speaking of the devil.

We reached the gate, greeting the messy-haired boy. Jieun nudged his shoulder, her eyes full of anticipation, "What'd you think of our game?"

"It was amazing. You guys did incredible out there," He spoke, his voice laced with enthusiasm.

I raised an eyebrow at him, "So, what are you doing here? It's 8:00 at night."

"I'm walking you home," he stated, stuffing his hands into his front pockets. "Your mom wanted me to pick you up since Eunbi is busy but I was going to do it regardless."

I rolled my eyes, a smirk forming on my lips, "What a gentleman."

He chuckled at my comment, his signature mischievous glint forming in his eyes. Before we could speak, a car pulled up at the entrance, causing the three of us to glance at the gray vehicle. Jieun sheepishly smiled at us, "That's my mom. I'll see you guys tomorrow!"
