"Fate could be viewed as sadistic at times."
― Steven Redhead
Refael's POV
I got out of my car and walked into Koch Manor.
People describe this place in such creative ways I have to laugh.
Many of my old colleagues used to say they envied me. That I was living the good life.
Materially, yes.
Physically, yes.
But that was all.
Mentally?
Spiritually?
Emotionally?
I was just existing.
I've gotten so used to it, I just go with the flow.

When I got in, the maid bowed lowly.
"Good afternoon, young master. King Koch would like to see you," she said.
I scoffed.
King Koch.
If only the people who describe this man as humble, benevolent and inspiring were here to see his ego.
Then again, even if they were, they'd be silenced immediately.
I wonder what it was that he wanted now.
Letting out a sigh, I unwillingly took myself to the bastard's study.

When I got there, Dinah was already there waiting.
"Good afternoon, father," I said, bowing.
Everyone either loved him or feared him.
I simply hated him.
Oh, how I wished to say that to his face.
We got his eyes and Mama's hair.
But he made us dye it black so that we could resemble him more.
I just colored mine instead and he's been mad ever since.
"Dinah's been telling me about your little... adventures at Ajax," he said, looking angry.
I shot a glare at my prissy snitching sister, who simply smiled in response.
I turned to the bastard.
"I see," was all I said.
"She tells me you've been hanging out with the Hale's problem child. Desist from doing so, you're already a problem on your own," he thundered.
I clenched my fists.
"Why must I stop? What's so wrong-"
I didn't get a word out before Dinah's fist connected with my face.
"Be quiet you insolent brat! Father gave an order, abide by it!" she yelled.
The bastard simply smiled at the spawn he called his daughter.
I hated both of them.
"Today better be the last day I hear about that problematic Hale. I had to spend money to send you to a hospital because of her-"
I laughed.
"Your daughter does worse to me-"
Dinah kicked me, causing me to fall out of my chair.
