"All that is called sadistic is not so. It is called sadistic in comparison to what is regarded as normal which has yet not been defined correctly."
― Harshit Walia

Upon Refael's insistence, we had the bitch taken to the nurse's office.

The nurse panicked and had an ambulance called in.

Good, she'll be gone for a few days.

I turned to Refael.

"Nurse, please have him treated," I said.

I was about to walk away when Refael held my hand.

"Please stay," he said.

I froze.

This was new to me.

Listening to people?

I did that, but not to this extent.

He was stirring up emotions I thought to be dead.

Eve the nurse looked surprised but she didn't say anything.

When she was finished, I held Refael's hand. Ignoring the tingly feeling I got, we walked towards my car.

"Get in," I said.

We had thirty minutes before the bell rang.

It was Friday and we had exams on Monday.

Without a word, he got into the car. I got in and we drove out of Ajax's parking lot.

*************************************

I turned to him.

"You okay?" I asked.

He nodded.

"Yeah, I'm good."

Liar.

I stopped the car.

I held his hand and squeezed it.

"Why didn't you tell me? Why didn't you let me know?" I asked.

I had more questions.

"I hate seeing you worry. I love seeing you smile," he said.

I kept a straight face, ignoring the little leap my heart did.

This was dangerous.

Vulnerability is always a dangerous thing. Especially when two people have their walls down. It creates opportunities for them to become closer.

And I could feel myself being drawn to him.

"Idiot. Seeing me smile at the cost of your wellbeing, are you crazy? And I bet last night when you called, that wasn't your room."

He shook his head.

"No, it wasn't my room. That's the place where Dinah tortures me," he said.

I felt my blood boil.

The bitch.

Should've killed her.

A disgusting person.

"What...did...she do to you?" I asked, trying to steady my voice.

He hung his head, confirming to me that many things were done.

"She'd beat me unconscious, electrocute me, whip me. Basically, she uses me as her personal punching bag."

He said it so calmly like he was so accustomed to it, it became a lifestyle.
