After a very serious discussion, I was awarded custody of Rafty and Refael got visitation rights. Every month, he had to bring child support or I'd take him to court.

We drove to a pet store where we bought bowls, a bed, food, a litter box and other items. Everything was green, a combination of our favourite colours.

Everyone was watching us and smiling, I even heard a girl whisper "goals".

It was very weird.

Can't two friends buy stuff for their baby girl?

After I dropped Refael home, I drove home.

When I got inside, I was greeted by the birth giver.

"For once, you've done a good thing," she said, trying to embrace me.

I dodged her.

"I have a kitten in my arms," I said, "and even if I didn't I wouldn't hug you."

She looked a little hurt and confused by that but I walked away, refusing to give her the time of day.

After I set aside a little corner for Rafty, I showered.

I got dressed, wearing a large black T-shirt with matching socks.

I fed Rafty and played with her a bit.

Then I went downstairs to have dinner.

"I do hope that you won't be wearing that tomorrow night," said the birth giver.

I rolled my eyes.

"I could wear sackcloth and it still wouldn't matter. Get off my dick woman," I said, digging into my meal.

"Don't talk to your mother like that!" said the sperm donor.

I started looking around.

"Mother? Where? I have that? Fancy that..." I mused.

James and Kate gasped. I shot them a glare.

"Please don't do dumb shit like that in front of my friend," I said.

"The way I see it, you like him," said Kate, "you've never brought a guy home."

"The way I see it, Kate, I don't like him. Not in that manner. Don't take me for you, sister dear," I tutted, stuffing my mouth with food.

"Watch how you talk to your older sister Octavia!" yelled the sperm donor.

"Watch the finances of Hale Corporation very well Father dear," I said, causing him to fall silent.

When I was finished, I got up and went back upstairs.

I was laying in bed with Rafty next to me. She was playing with my finger and chewing it like it was a toy. I was reading on my phone.

Then I got a video call from Refael.

I smiled and answered.

"Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy," he said.

He looked tired like he was fighting. Wherever he was looked dark and dismal.

"Hi, where are you?" I asked.
