Noah P.O.V

It's been 3 weeks since the start of school, and wow, it has been absolutely bonkers. And we are back on track. Hailey passed me the note. I smiled, then laughed, smiled again and passed it on to Laela. She looked at me deeply, with a smile that said much more than a million words. Wow, the way she looks at me is just so unique, so perfect, simply gorgeous. She's amazing, to say the least, but amazing itself doesn't cover it. She's beautiful with fine curves and the most breathtaking smile, oh her smile just drives me crazy. Oh just being around her drives me crazy. Maths ended, oh well! I ran towards Hailey and her group, she had told me she really wanted to talk to me.

"Hey, Hail Hail!"- I laughed.  She gets so annoyed when I call her this.

"What you jerk!"- Hailey said.

" My birthday is only in a few weeks time, you reckon I could do a party or something?"

" That's actually a great idea!... Do you know what you should do? Try and invite Laela!"

"It would be so good... But I think I have to be around her for a little while. Do you think she likes me, Hail?"

"I mean idk... You will never know if you don't try, am I right? Just sayin', the hardest thing in the world is to like someone and for them to like you back. There are only a few girls that will love you in the same way that you love them, and you deserve that. You're a nice fella."- She replied

"Wow that was so beautiful, do you really think so?" I asked

"Yeah, why not!"

She smiled broadly and entered the crowd. To an observer, she was no more than a part of a moving mass, one with predictable behavior when viewed as a whole. Perhaps I had indeed become one of the many, feeding off the impulses of those around me. Every ear was filled with the sound of multiple conversations going off at once, lockers opening and closing, there was the couple that was always making out on the left side of the hall. Opposite them, the cliquey jocks, and between them, the gossipy girls. There were the kids who never did anything but make paper airplanes. And then there was me, I wasn't moving, I was just staring at the chaos around me... I wondered, does she really like me? Will I ever know?

The day had come, my birthday party. We had planned everything to the slightest detail. We had so many different ways for me to accomplish my mission. My parents would go crazy if they really saw my "small party with just a few friends". The music was so freaking loud that it made my skin tingle. The bass of the music was thumping, following the rhythm of my heartbeat as though they were one. It got progressively louder, it was pulling me in and it wouldn't let go. I had no choice but to join the crowd, jumping in a huddled group like gum being shaken in a box. It was around 3 am. Everyone was cheering and screaming, but it was just when I noticed Laela sitting on her own, that is when a lightbulb turned on.

I sat on the couch right next to her. I was so nervous sweat was dripping down my forehead. Over the roar of music, I could barely distinguish the movement of her lips and couldn't understand a word she was saying. I was trying to hold her hand, and slowly I started to feel the contact and gently stroking her fine fingers. My heart skipped a beat. She didn't react. I was melting, completely melting, her eyes were the kind that stole your breath while looking through your soul. Then she grabbed my hands tightly.  At this point, my emotions were rushing through my veins and the adrenaline was almost unbearable. She relented as I played with her hair and held her tighter and tighter, closer and closer. Her lips, oh, how I wanted to kiss those lips. And then it happened. And for that one moment, everything was perfect. When we broke away after what seemed like ages she looked at me...

She kissed me yet again and the world fell away. It was slow and soft, comforting in ways that words could never describe. My hand rested below her ear, my thumb stroking her cheek as our breaths mingled. I never wanted this moment to end, but then it did. She pulled away, smiling at me shyly and standing up. With our hands still bonded together, I had no choice but to follow her. She guided me into the crowd and onto the middle of the dance floor. We danced and danced, and then danced again until the first beams of light shone through the window, and the night was eventually over.
