Cameron's P.O.V
Now that I look back at it...What a night! There were so many things going on at the same time, that it was practically impossible to pay attention to everything all at once. I was so surprised when I saw Hannah finally accomplishing her freshman dream, I beamed at her as Marcus dragged her inside one of the rooms. Through the roar of the music, through the screams of the crowd and through the little light present, it was hard to pay attention to anything else. I was never much of a dancer, but I found myself dancing all night long until my legs could not carry me anymore. But one thing managed to catch my attention: Hailey. We spent every math lesson exchanging notes, managing to grow quite close over the weeks, and when we started dancing, I couldn't take my eyes off her cozy chocolate brown eyes and the cute freckles that surrounded them. We kept on dancing, but then I felt someone grab me by the hand. The figure dragged me through the crowd until we found ourselves standing in the middle of the dance floor, right next to Noah and Laela. That's when I recognized who it was: Lexi. She was standing in front of me, with the most flirtatious smile I have ever seen, but it was kind of soothing at the same time. I always thought she was kind of average but when I look at her I realized she had something special. She didn't have many curves but still, she had a nice face and a cute petite posture. Even though the music had a fast beat, we slow danced going against the rhythm. For a person watching, we were just a pair of discoordinated dancers, but between us, we knew that this moment was perfect in every way.
After about one hour, I noticed the melancholic figure of Hailey. I was pretty sure she liked me, but I wasn't sure how I felt about it. Either way, I excused Lexi and sat on the couch next to her to try to cheer her up a little. She looked at me with big, tired eyes and leaned on my shoulder, falling asleep in a matter of seconds. I laid my head on hers, closed my eyes, and smiled to myself. I found her very cute, but my feelings were as tangled up like a bowl of spaghetti. I didn't know how to feel about Lexi either. She was also very pretty and friendly, but the difference was that I felt this strong attraction for her... I let my worries fade away into a dreamless sleep.
I woke up at about 12 a clock with a pair of hands shaking my shoulders slightly.
"Sweety, are you alright?" said a familiar voice. I opened my eyes to find both of my parents staring back at me, with worried expressions on their faces.
"What d'you mean, mom?" I answered.
She opened her handbag and took out a pocket mirror as if it was an explanation. I looked at my reflection: I had huge black bags under my eyes, my white t-shirt was stained in red from the different drinks at the party, and I had confetti tangled up in my hair. No wonder they were concerned.
"Don't worry, everything is alright. Let's go, shall we?" I stood up, and my parents followed me. From across the room, I saw Noah and Laela holding hands.
"Thanks for the party, dude" I thanked him.
"You are very welcome, leaving already?" Noah replied, never letting go of Laela's hand.
"Yeah, well." My voice turned into a whisper. "My parents."
I pointed at my mom, who was looking around disgustedly and muttering to herself:
"All those parties, and the people in the parties... I shouldn't have let Cameron go to any of these parties."
Noah laughed and said "My mother is exactly the same. Take care, man. And know that you are always welcome here."
As we parted and I got into the car, I saw Lexi looking at me from outside. If I would have known she was still here, I would have stayed, but I guess it wasn't the right thing to do after switching from girl to girl all night long. I waved at her as she smiled at me, and that made me wonder over and over again until I finally got to my house: how could I ever make a choice?
