Hailey's P.O.V
Cam placed his hand close to mine indicating for me to hold it. We were hiding in the brush, cheekily staring at our two friends having the most awkward conversation that one could ever imagine, and frankly enough, it was about us. Listening to them carefully, it was hard to ignore the fact that Emily just asked the question that I was dying to know the answer to.
"Isn't Cameron going out with Lexi?" she questioned Liam, but my heart was thumping too intensely for me to hear his answer.
I looked Cam deep into the eyes. "Are you going out with her?"
A sly expression appeared across his face. "Not anymore. Once I really got to know her, I realized that I didn't like her at all."
It took all of my will power to try and stop it, but a wide smile still appeared across my face. "What made you change your mind?"
"Lexi started to ignore me, and I didn't like the way I was treated." He started, shuffling a little closer to where I was sitting. "I started to get really suspicious of what her intentions were, and when I talked to Mckenzie, I realized that I was right. She only dated me for popularity."
"I'm so sorry." I tried consoling him. "That must have hurt real bad."
He moved closer to me yet again "Not at all. After I broke up with her, she wanted to get back together, but I said no."
"Why did you do that?" I asked.
He was centimeters away at this point. "Because after what happened at the cinema, I couldn't stop thinking about you. I realized that wherever I was and whatever I did, you would always be in my head. You would always be a part of me. Because I love you, Hailey, and I always will." He finished, loosening the muscles that were holding him back and closing any space that was left between us. His lips hooked up on mine, and I slowly started to kiss him back.
Suddenly, it started raining. In the pouring water, Cam's hair became clapped on his face sending raindrops streaming down his forehead. But we didn't stop. We didn't care if the water soaked through and chilled the skin: it was a connection that showed the strength of the feeling.
He pulled me closer, whispering in my ear. "I love you, Hailey. I really do."
I felt his lips smile against mine and an overpowering warmth rushed through my body, despite the cold weather. This was the moment I was waiting for since the start of the year, and this time, no one was going to take it away from me.
