It's ok to be a glowstick; sometimes we need to break before we shine.
This is definitely true, for my family at least. My parents I think, needed to break, otherwise they wouldn't be who they are today.
They didn't always enjoy the journey to getting here, but they've said multiple times before that it is worth it.
I haven't reached that stage yet, and I'm not sure what I'll do when I do.
