Falling down is a accident;
staying down is a choice.First thing, before I get into this quote, Happy New Year! I hope everyone has had a great year so far, and happy holidays as well. I hope 2020 will be the best year yet.
I chose this quote because I have a really weird sense of humor. I tripped while playing tag with a friend of mine's little brother, and twisted my leg pretty badly.
We were meeting up with each other someplace in Tennessee, which was a equal distance between us and them, and my friend, her brother, and I were playing in this alleyway that was full of gorgeous graffiti.
(Wattpad keeps crashing every time I try to share an image, sorry.)So I was running after her little brother, (let's call him Caiden) and I tripped, twisting my leg on the fall down, and completely ruining my ability to walk for the next 2 days.
Except, I had to get up.
There was a car and a truck backing up from either side of the alley.
Yes, I probably could have stayed there and let my let rest, but what good would that do?
It was roughly 40 F (6 C for you non Americans), there were two vehicles backing trapping us, so we couldn't get a car to pick me up, and all of our medical supply's was in our hotel room. Plus it was about 12 and I hadn't had breakfast yet.
(There's not much to eat for breakfast when you're a vegetarian that's allergic to maple syrup and hates eggs)So what was the point in not walking? Sure it hurt, but it also hurt when I didn't move it.
If I did stay down like I originally wanted to, me knee would have swollen so much that I couldn't make it back to the hotel, or sat in the car for our 6 hour drive back to our house. I also would have worried Caiden, who was 9, and his looked like he was about to cry, worried that he did that to me.
Now, let me tell you, I don't like kids much, but there are 2 who completely have me wrapped around their little finger, Caiden and my little cousin, who only gets attention when she picks a fight with her big brother.
So anyway, moral of the story, falling down is a accident, it always is (unless you're skydiving), but staying down is a choice, your choice, a choice that sucks because you just want to stay down there forever and never get up. But if you do get up, more good will come from that.
And good will also come from falling down as well, you just have to look for it. Because I fell down, I got to spend two more hours with my friends then I would have originally gotten, we haven't seen each other in almost 5 years, and we spent two days together, so yes, 2 hours does seem like a lot to me.
So staying down is a choice, but that choice may change a lot.
Unfortunately I have no idea who originally said this quote.
