The scream was enough to get the Doctor's attention. He ran in the direction and found the one and only Valentine Morgenstern. He was holding Clara, his eyes filled with anger. He didn't want to fail, not after all he's sacrificed.
"Valentine..." The Doctor sighed, staring at him. "Stop."
"NO! I WON'T STOP!" Valentine screamed. "WHY WOULD I STOP?! STOP OUT OF ALL THE THINGS I COULD DO, I'M SUPPOSED TO STOP?!"
"You're like my friend. My best friend. He became a lunatic. But you, you could still be sane. Drop Clara and we can help you." The Doctor bargained.
"No, it's all about the girl, isn't it? You wouldn't give a single-" but he didn't finish his sentence. Clara elbowed him in the gut, causing him to flinch. Before Valentine knew it, the Doctor's fist had connected with his face. He was knocked to the ground, dropping Clara at the same time. The Doctor picked Clara up and moved her away from Valentine.
"Ha..." The Doctor whipped around to find Valentine, standing up slowly, his face slightly bloody. "Think I would fall that easily?" Valentine smirked. "I'LL KILL YOU!"
"No. You won't. You still are slightly, just slightly, nice." At that, Valentine's face slightly turned into a happy one. Or at least it was for a second.
"You're right. I won't kill you." In a split second, Valentine was running to Clara, a dagger in his hand. The Doctor extended a leg out and Valentine tripped, the dagger hitting him square in the chest.
"You should run first before saying what you're going to do." The Doctor advised before walking back to Clara. For the first time in a long time, he felt nothing. Not a single pang of guilt, he didn't feel at all. He picked up Clara and carried her back to the TARDIS.

Clara woke up for the first time in three years, not in a dark and cold cell, but a warm bedroom. The walls were sapphire blue, glow in the dark stars on the ceiling. She was wrapped in the same colored plush blanket and on the right, was a peaceful sleeping Doctor, who was sitting on a chair.
"Mm..." Clara mumbled and instantly his eyes snapped awake, like an alarm clock.
"Clara!" The Doctor was instantly at her side.
"D-D-Doctor?" She uttered his name quietly, her brown eyes staring into his emerald ones.
"I'm here." The Doctor leaned in and pulled her into a warm embrace.
