"Hija, hijo!" Masaya kaming sinalubong ni Mama mula sa sala. Alas otso y media ang napag-usapang pagkikita. Nakipag-beso naman si One kay Mama.
"Late na po ba kami, Ma?" Tanong ko, medyo nag-aalala. Umiling si Mama at ngumiti naman.
"Hindi, on time lang. Sige, nasa garden sila ngayon. Naghahanda pa ako sa kusina para sa magiging meryenda ninyo, One, hijo, good luck!" I bit my lower lip.
"Ma, 'wag n'yo namang takutin si One" Mama pouted at me. Pabiro pa nitong hinampas ang balikat ko.
"Aw!"
"One will suit their taste, promise! At may tiwala ako sa son-in-law ko. Kayang kaya niya 'yan!" Nakita ko ang hindi mapantayang ngiti ni One. He also wink at me. Ha! That handsome idiot!
"Let's go, pumunta na tayong garden" I hold his hand as we enter the garden. There I saw my Tita Monec sitting and holding a cup of tea, nasa tabi nito si Tita Cyrena na nakangiting bumungad sa amin, at nandoon naman si Tita Noliena with her beautiful face beside her is my most sophisticated and elegant aunt together with her channel bag, usual her bored look never leave her face, my tita Lelya.
"Hi, aunties" I greeted. Isa-isa ko silang hinalikan sa pisnge. Mabilis akong bumalik sa kinatatayuan ni One at hinawakan ang kamay nito.
"Tita, fiancèe ko po" I saw how their own expression change. Mula sa masasayang mukha ay napalitan ng seryosong ekspresyon.
"So, siya ang sinasabi ng Mama mo, Ralia. Nice taste" Tita Monec said and she wink at me.
"Hindi ko inaakalang darating ang panahon na makikita kitang may kasamang lalaki ulit matapos ang limang taong pagiging single. Hmm, isn't he the son of McCorten Raven Stevenson?" Tita Cyrena asked.
"Yes, madame." He said. Mabilis na lumipat ang tingin ko kay Tita Lelya.
"Nice choice, have a sit, both of you" Tita Lelya's voice send so much fear in my bones. Hindi ko alam sa lahat ng tiyahin ko siya ay pinakakinatatakotan ko.
"So, where did you two meet?" Tita Monec asked excitedly. One smiled. I wonder if where did he saw me first.
"I meet her, inside the bar. Having a glass of Vodka, and I thought she is calling me that's why I made my move. Ralia's expression didn't leave my mind that day, but for me, that was not how we meet." He paused.
"We meet when our eyes landed to each others face, it was my first vacation here in the Philippines and I saw her bored and beautiful look. She was fifteen back then and I was seventeen. From that day, I never had a girl in my mind but only her, until I finished my studies in Harvard and work hard to serve my country. Maraming babaeng umaaligid sa akin pero ni isa doon wala akong nakitang nakakaakit, my mind keep saying that the only girl I need to like is the girl I have today, and that was your niece, madames"
Nakita ko ang pasimpleng pagsinghot ni Tita Monec. "And I never thought I had this chance to be with her, and be part of her life, years of waiting for her is now worth it"
"So you mean, you've been waiting for our niece? In what reason, enlighten us please" Tita Noliena said.
"I saw how she had her first heartbreak, how she cried hard to her friend, Eresia. I saw how she's been dumped by those idiots, I saw how she's been cheated. I saw it all with my bare eyes and I don't have the courage to comfort her, silly me, but it doesn't matter now. I already own her, half of her."
Para namang hinaplos ang aking puso sa kaniyang sinabi. I didn't see this bullet coming, I don't know how to dodge it but I just accept it. Kung pinana man ako ni Kupido sa aking puso masasabi kong tagos na tagos iyon. My man is being honest to my aunties right now and that melt my heart in seconds.
"I never had a doubt when your mother told us that she had the right guy for you, Ralia. Kung ano man ang sinabi ni Ralia sa'yo tungkol sa amin, One. Don't worry, tanggap ka namin" Tita Lelya made my heart in so much joy.
"Maraming salamat po sa pagtanggap sa akin, madame" Tita Lelya smile and chuckle. Pabiro pa nitong tinampal ang braso ni One.
"Tita na ngayon, One. Nako, hindi na ako makapaghintay na makita kang naghihintay sa pamangkin ko sa altar" Tita Cyrena commented.
"May napili naba kayong petsa at buwan?" Tanong naman ni Tita Noliena.
"Ah, sa totoo lang po wala pa.." Aniya.
"Hmm, how about next month?" Tanong ni Monec.
This month maybe happy and sad for us, but next month will be lonely for me. The month of March, will be so lonely for me. One will be back in his work. He will sail to Europe for four months.
"About that tita, One and I will be LDR for four months" I answered. One hold my hand and squeeze it.
"I see. You're in higher position. Masasabi kong mahirap nga tangihan ang utos ng mas nakakataas sa'yo, hijo" Tita Lelya said.
One smiled. "I know it will be hard for Ralia but I will do this for our future. I don't want to depend on my parents. I will strive in my own. I will give everything to her, she deserves more."
Tita Monec took a sip on her cup. "I'm glad to hear that from you, One"
"I'm glad, naputa ka sa tamang lalaki, hija. I am so happy and proud at the same time." Tita Noliena said.
"Welcome to the family, One. Excited na ako sa kasal ninyo!" Si Tita Cyrena.
Hindi na mapunit punit pa ang ngiti ni One. He must be very happy for this. I am so glad.
"Thank you, titas." He said. They hugged One. I join them too.
Wah, what a wonderful day. I am so relief.
