"Alright everybody," Ben says as he stands up, holding his glass of red wine up. "I would like to start off by giving thanks to the Queen, for allowing me in her country even though my passport was expired by a day. I would also like to give thanks to these to lovely ladies," he points to my mum and Anne. "For letting me into their home and helping me bring an American tradition to us. And last but not least, I would like to give thanks to Kat, for not only befriending me on the plane, but for continuing to hang out with me and being a great host."
I smile as we all clink glasses. The food before us looked so appetizing I hadn't realized all I ate all day was an orange and a glass of water.
Before I could eat from my fork, the sound of the door opening and closing stopped us. "I'm home." That voice.
I groan making my mum turn to me making me disguise it as a forced cough. I look to Ben who looks confused though I can't explain because Harry enters the dining room.
"What's going on?" He asks looking around before his eyes fall on me, immediately loosing his smile before his eyes turn to Ben.
"We we're having a thanksgiving." Anne smiles.
"Why don't you join us? There's plenty of food." My mum adds making me slump back on my seat. Harry without a chance to deny, gets seated in the empty chair in front of me right next to Ben.
He turns to him. "Hi, I'm Harry." He gives an awkward smile making Ben shake his hand.
"I'm Ben, Kats' friend." Harry nods before turning to me and nodding.
"Kat." He mocks, setting his napkin down on his lap.
"What are you doing here? I thought you were going to be busy with your promotion." I remind, taking a drink of wine from my glass.
He shrugs. "Considering I live here, I guess I wanted to come and visit for two days before I get back." Harry retorts making my mum and Anne look at one another. "But do tell, how'd you two meet?"
"The plane ride back from New York." Ben says. "I saved her from looking so bored."
"More like you bothered me for gum." I joke making him chuckle. "He hates turbulence." I say.
"I guess that's something that affects anyone that travels." Harry retorts, catching on to what I was trying to do. "I left America to escape Americans celebrating their stolen land, though it seems I came right back to it."
"Harry, don't be rude." Anne scolds making him smile.
"No it's fine," Ben says. "I'm in it for the food."
"Perhaps we should make this a household tradition as well." I say, mocking Harry as he eats a piece of turkey.
"That would be such a lovely idea!" Anne claps her hand. "Ben, would you be joining us?"
"I don't see why not?" He grins.
"So I'm coming out with a new album." Harry blurts out making Anne pat his hand. "Should be out around December, I'm sure you've heard."
"Of course," Ben agrees. "My teenage sisters won't shut up about it."
"Nice orgy you were having on that new music video by the way." I say making Ben snort.
"Katherine!" My mum scolds this time making me muffle my laughs. I look to Harry who drinks from his glass, completely ignoring what I had said making me roll my eyes.
"It was a pretty good song though." Ben adds making Harry nod and me to shrug.
"I'm aware." Harry says before his phone rings. "Hey, babe." He answers, his gaze on me as he excuses himself from the table.
