"My child. We haven't seen the sky for such a long time. Is this sunrise or sunset?" asked Toriel, breaking the amazed silence.
I listened to the birds, if I recognize any of their morning or evening songs. "Sunset." I answered, "The nights should be warm and short. It's summer still."
It was a beautiful twilight - I haven't seen that many colors in the sky for a very long time myself. Promise of a good start.Soon everyone started chatting and looking around.
"Nobody get lost. Especially you Papyrus!" sounded the deep bass of Asgore.
"NYAAAAA!!!" Undyne screamed while climbing a tree to look around. What a bunch of idiots...
I went up to Sans.
"Can I... talk to you? Alone?" I mumbled.
"no probs, kid." said Sans, raising his... the top of his eye socket?
"Mom?" I yelled out to Tori. She turned to me happily while Asgore's eyes almost fell out. Poor guy needed some explaining. "I'll be right back, ok? Sans will go with me." I added when worry appeared in her expression. She nodded.
"Keep an eye socket on her, Sans." Toriel told him. He winked at her."so? have some specific place in mind?" Sans asked me.
"Just somewhere quiet and peaceful..." I started walking to the woods. Sans joined me and suddenly grabbed my wrist. Before I could react we were in a different place and he let go of me.
"sorry to scare ya kid."
I looked around. "Never mind that, this place is wonderful." I said.We were on top of a small hill from where I could see the other guys. I could also see a big lake ahead and behind it, the last bit of the setting sun was shining. First stars started appearing in the darkening sky.
There were no trees on the hill, just soft grass with a few white and just faintly colored flowers. At the end of my look-around, I took a peak at Sans. He was watching the sky with his eyes almost closed and a smile across his face, enjoying the breeze. A warm feeling spread inside me. I could tell him everything because only he remembered. I could trust him because he wanted to protect everyone from Chara... or me I guess. He was the only one that could help me. I felt almost safe with him. Almost...
Why are you looking at trashbag like this? Looking for weak points to crush that smile of this? Go on, that's why you made him go here alone or?
I shook my head and the warm feeling was gone. Thanks Chara.
"sit down, kiddo. looks like a long story you got there." Sans sat, pointed next to him and I blushed. He caught me looking.
Sitting down next to him I started talking. I told him everything I knew and all I remembered. I was crying almost the whole way throughout. Somewhere along the way, Sans hugged me with one hand and pulled me to his side and shoulder. When I was done talking, there was a silence. Not an awkward one. Even Chara stopped mumbling for once. We were just looking at the stars together. Sans must have been making his mind about trusting me. A small part of me wanted him to not trust me, so I could go away without hurting anyone.
After a long time he spoke into the silence.
"I'll help you through this. We can make it, Frisk, together."The thought of Sans trusting me filled me with DETERMINATION.
