Little bonus midweek chapter! X
Dianne combed her fingers through Connie's hair, as the little girl picked the bobbles out of the 'bag of wonders'. It was a small bag that Dianne had put together filled with bows and clips, hair brushes and a fancy continuous water bottle spray to help Joe keep everything for Connie's hair together. It acted to help simplify his mornings and had come about because they had nearly been late looking for something to tie her hair up with. The little one was dressed in a pretty yellow summer dress and was trying to locate the special bobbles with yellow ribbons on them in the bag.
"Like your fatcher Joe ones, vat you has when you did the one with the red tops," Connie said, eventually passing Dianne back the correct bobbles, impressing the Aussie with her perfect colour coordination.
"French plaits or boxer braids? The one that looks like a plait stick on your head or the softer one?" Dianne asked, they were still getting all of the hair lingo down but she was confident Connie would know it all before Christmas.
"Stick outy!"
Dianne laughed and got to work wetting Connie's hair and separating it into two halves. As she plaited they talked about what Connie was excited about. "And did you know Daddy said I can have a icecream Dot!"
"I'm not surprised, it's very hot outside. The sun's travelled from Australia with Buzz and Mel," Dianne said, as she started the next one, impressed with how still Connie was sitting- she was much better than the first time she had done it.
"Oh yeah, so is it cold in Straya?" Connie asked, almost turning her head to look at Dianne, only to remember and face back forward with little damage to the plait.
"Colder than normal yeah, it's winter there but it's still very warm. Only about 16 degrees. But a lot hotter than when it's winter here. It never ever snows in Australia," she explained, smiling at Joe who came out of the bathroom yawning. The drive had taken a toll on him and he was struggling to get his limbs to coordinate today as a result.
"You're dressed!" She cheered, finishing off Connie's plait.
"And still tired, I could honestly just fall back to sleep," he said, laying beside her on the bed, curling his body around her so his legs were on one side and his hands and face were on the other.
"We definitely don't have to go as far as you're suggesting, we could just walk to the beach or have a chill here," Dianne said, as Joe passed her the appropriate bobble, nuzzling his face into the side of her leg after.
"No, I'll be fine!" Joe insisted, not moving.
"All done big girl! I'll take a picture to show you," Dianne said, fishing her phone from under Joe's armpit, taking the picture, passing it to Connie who nodded in approval and ran off to 'annoy Buzz'.
"You sure? We could totally go tomorrow, have a bit of a chilled one, you know." Joe shook his head using his hand and leg to tip her down onto the crisp white sheets. "Stubborn prick, that's you Suggy, that's you. Have you got the route and stuff sorted, do you need help?"
"Nah, I've got it all done. We should get going though, beat some of the crowds," he said, and once he had kissed her neck, sat up, stretched and got off the bed. Promptly leaving his redhead laying there wondering where he had mustered the energy from.
"Absolutely mental."

"Vis is so absolutely boring," Connie whined, kicking her Dad's chest.
"It's beautiful and dinosaurs once lived here. If you walked it would be more fun, you could try and catch a cricket!" Joe said, moving her legs back so she could no longer kick him from her position on his shoulders.
