Connie wandered out of her room with a rumbling tummy and a baby doll in her arms. She looked in the office first, that was where Daddy was quite alot- if he wasn't at the featre with David. He wasn't in there though so she kept on going rocking from side to side as she walked to keep her baby asleep. When she reached the sofa she found him. He was laying down and Connie saw some red hair too, so assumed that Dot was also there. They were being quiet though, not talking like normal and the TV seemed to be paused with some writing on it that she couldn't read yet. Connie crept forward to Bye her Daddy, realising he was asleep.
"Daddy's asleep little one, Dot too, so I hab to get a snack on mine own," Connie whispered, once she had stroked her Daddy's back a couple of times. She walked to the kitchen and opened the cupboard, eyes going wide, as she saw all her options.
There was all sorts, up high Connie could even see sweeties. Her tummy gurgled with excitement and she found herself putting baby on the counter, promise of picking her up as soon as she had found her snack as she pulled the step stool that she and Dot sometimes used up to the open cupboard. Connie found herself pausing soon after though- what would she be allowed? What would Daddy tell her to get if he was here? She knew she wasn't allowed things with milk or butter or yoghurt or chocolate or icecream in because the doctor said it made her poorly- which it did- but Connie didn't really know what that meant she could and couldn't have.
In the end she decided to have haribo sweeties and a plain wrap. Snacks procured, she wandered over to where Daddy and Dot were still asleep and sat down.
"Oh no I forgotted the baby," she was just about to tuck into her wrap so she threw it next to her and got up and ran picking her up, kissing her on the head in apology. Connie decided that the baby would probably wake up at that moment, because it had sort of been left, so she squeezed its tummy, so that it cried.
"Dot, the baby's up, it's cryi- wait," Connie heard her Dad say, before he sat up, rubbing his eyes.
"Oh Connie, it's just your doll, I got worries for a second, did we fall asleep?" Joe asked, as Dianne mewled next to him, causing him to stroke her hair.
"Yeppy, I got me a snack. An wrap and an sweeties. But I left baby on the counter and she cried." Connie was speaking at full volume over the continued cries.
"Ah I see, a nice balanced snack, is there any way you could whisper darling, so you don't wake up Dot?" Joe asked, and Connie could see that he was still stroking her back, "she's not sick, before you ask, just tired, she stays up late to wait for me to come back from work and she woke up early yesterday and got back late."
"I knowd, I woked up on Wednesday at late and she was awake in your beddy. She said she was waiting for you so that she could gib you a kiss and a huggle and ask how your day was."
Joe smiled, getting up, pulling the blanket up her back. He sat down next to Connie and stole a sweet, winking when she complained.
"What do you want for tea?" He asked, realising it was getting later on in their day.
"Food."
"Well yeah, sassy pants, I meant what type of food. We need to go food shopping as well actually. Come on, let's put some proper clothes on and go and buy some food."
They got ready and Connie put baby to bed in a cot next to Dianne's head, so that she could tend to her if she woke up. Joe sent her to sit by the door and buckle her shoes, as he made sure Dianne new where they were going. He rubbed her arm first, brushing hair out of her face, "you don't have to move okay, Connie and I are going out to Sainsbury's in Chip to get some food. We shouldn't be too long. I love you Little One." He kissed her head, and straightened up.
