Just a little one to bridge the gap between the previous chapter and a chapter I had originally intended to post today. I hope you enjoy xx
Connie looked out of the big door in her bedroom and sighed, she had desperately wanted to go and ride her bike in the little dog garden downstairs and then also splash in the paddling pool and play water balloons and read a book to the sunflowers who surely wouldn't be able to grow when it was raining. She needed something to do, desperately. Her teacher, Miss Horris who also apparently had a baby growing in her U-rus, or as she had said wrong; tummy, had only given them a small amount of work to do again and Connie knew she needed more. The only issue was, there wasn't anymore. So, she had finished working with her dad and mum, had a delicious lunch of Quorn nuggets and wraps, called Nana, Pop, Mia and Billy and then played dolls for a while and now she needed more to do.
"Come on Bunny, let's find a bigger grown up."
And off she went.
"It's raining," Connie pouted, finding her Daddy doing emails sat at the breakfast bar. He had his glasses on, or spekicals, as her Grandad would call them, and a grumpy look on his face rather like hers.
"I know. Why the sad facey little one?"
"Pecause, I wanted to play outside."
"Oh, well, we can have fun in here, can't we? Why don't we build a blanket den and cuddle and watch a film?" Joe suggested, closing his laptop, spinning around on the stool to properly face her, smiling at the cute pout her lips were still showing.
"But what about work?"
Joe glanced back at his computer, frowning, "you, my little Sugg, are more important than any work. I love you so much and I haven't been spending as much time with you so, today is for you little one."
"Daddy," she grinned, holding her arms up to him, "I love you!"
"And I love you. So what are we going to watch?"
"Our film," she said without a moment of hesitation.
"Our film?" Joe repeated, confused, as they walked to get sheets, blankets and the biggest pillows they could find.
"From when I was little, me and you together."
"Ah," Joe suddenly understood, "of course. Will we watch when you were a baby?"
Connie nodded and squealed with excitement, as she was dropped onto her bed. "So I can see what it's going to be like when Sissy arrives!"
"Brilliant! You get all your bedding and the sheet from in here, I've got your spare ones," he said, opening her bottom draw, pulling out a neatly folded sheet then a scrunched up one, "then I'll go and get my duvet and we'll meet in the living room?"
Again, she nodded and started hauling the double duvet in the direction of the living room. Joe laughed and ran up the stairs, determined to make this the best day ever. It didn't matter that they were stuck in isolation, as long as they had fun!
"Oh sorry, I didn't, well of course you'd be up here, are you okay?" Joe asked, feeling guilty that he had forgotten about Dianne for a moment. Of course, he hadn't forgotten, forgotten her, she was always on his mind after all. But he had definitely not remembered she was upstairs.
"I'm fine," she smiled, glad to see, after a few down days, Joe looked lighter, "just about to have a meeting. Are you okay?"
Joe knew there was weight in her words.
