In the Suggwell household it was a rare thing that Dianne slept in longer than her boyfriend. She seemed to have this super power called 'being a morning person' which ensured that she was awake and able to get up as soon as Connie woke up- and sometimes even before.
The morning after her final show in London, however, was the day when she had to recharge this superhuman ability; and Joe was revelling in it. The blue-eyed boy had decided, when she didn't wake up to Connie singing his song, that he'd let her sleep for as long as she wished- it was good to indulge sometimes. So far, he had dropped Connie off on the trial walking bus, which started at the nearby park, eaten his breakfast and replied to some vital emails.
Now, though, he was sat on the floor in their bedroom, with a perfect view of her peacefully sleeping on his side of the bed, emptying and sorting her case. In itself it wasn't a particularly difficult task; however, Dianne had made it harder by refusing to fold her clothes. There was also the fact that she hated separating clean and dirty clothes. After sniffing too many of his t-shirts, which he had been looking for, he gave up and sorted it into the various washes. Joe smiled to himself at a memory, as he made a pile for 'delicates'.
It was a memory from the first time he had sorted a full load of her laundry- he couldn't quite remember when he had done it, or why but he could remember her frowning at him. When he had asked her what the frown was for, she had explained her confusion at the amount of piles he had made from her suitcase of clothes. You see, the YouTuber came to discover, that his girlfriend did not separate her washes into four piles; whites, delicates, brights and dark- but two; lights and darks. They even had an argument over it, which resulted in Joe asking Dianne not to wash Connie's clothes or his, and Dianne getting offended.
He smiled at the memory and tipped his own washing, seeing if he had anything to top up his piles.
"No, why are you doing that? I said I'd do it," it was punctuated by yawns, sniffs and a cough.
"Because I love you," Joe shrugged, putting each pile carefully into the washing baskets he had brought from downstairs.
"No, you don't get to use that as an excuse, Joseph," she huffed, blowing her nose. She had been plagued by a small inconvenient cold that she had picked up from tour the previous couple of days and it hadn't shifted as fast as she had wished.
Joe laughed and sat on her side of the bed, "morning my Dot."
"Morning," she kissed him gently, "seriously though, why are you doing it?"
"Not going to let this go are you," he gave her a pointed look.
"Nope, I'm feeling exceedingly stubborn."
"When are you not," he squeezed her hand, "I did it because it was annoying me and I knew you wouldn't get it emptied for at least a couple of days."
"How did you know that?"
"Well, you're not feeling well, you hate unpacking and well, habit?"
"Sometimes I wish you didn't know so much about me. What time are we on?" It was bright outside, well as bright as it could be with stormy clouds littering the sky.
"About 10, how we feeling today?" His hand pushed her hair off her face whilst also feeling her temperature- it was a dad move and it made Dianne squirm.
"Yeah, not bad, it's on it's way out, crackle-y," she breathed out harshly and Joe understood what she meant.
"Still up for going away?" He leaned her forward and patted her back, just as her mum had shown him.
"Course I am, this is the end of it. I'm quite excited actually Joseph."
"Me too! Dad's coming at 2 so we can get going then. I'll drive?"
