CHAPTER 10

(TrisPOV)

After we kissed I ran home. My mother yelled at me as I ran upstairs, but I didn't care.

Caleb storms over to me. "Where have you been, Tris? Last night you never came back and after school I didn't see you till, well, now. Have you been to Four's house? That where you staying? Hmm...? Beatrice did you stay the night there last night?" He questions me.

"You think I would rather stay here with you, Caleb?!" I scream, heat running through my veins.

"Well, if you get pregnant it ain't my fault."

"What? No! Caleb, Four is just being nice and I would never." I argue.

Caleb just shrugs and pushes me aside. After he leaves I release a breath I didn't know I was holding.

It is 6:00 and I haven't had any dinner yet. In a normal family, the mother would cook dinner and we would all eat around the table and talk about our day. Not in my family!

My mother just makes food for herself and sometimes for Caleb. My dad is never home in time to eat a meal with us, so I have to fend for myself. Tonight I don't feel up to cooking so I order a small pizza. My father warned me one time to never have anything delivered to our house, so I always go to whatever restraunt I ordered from to pick it up.

I put on a black hoodie and start walking about five minutes after I ordered. Tonight the sky is a dark gery with little stars scattered here and there. The air is cool, but refreshing. In no time I make it to the Pizza Hut and pay for the small cheese pizza.

Tonight I'm not up for going home to whatever mess awaits me. When I was little I found this one spot right behind a little playground where two trees bent over to make a perfect staircase. It was my little clubhouse that only I knew about. That's where I'm going to spend the night.

I hold the pizza box in one hand and climb with the other. Once I am sitting on the highest limb I can find, I open the box and let the sweet aroma fill the air around me. In less than ten minutes I had eaten the whole pizza and was slowly falling asleep.

I wake up, but I'm not in the tree anymore. The sky is still dark and the stars are still shining bright. Where am I?

Then I hear someone scream. That scream is so familiar. Then I realize it is my scream, coming from my throat. I'm confused, but can't stop screaming. That's when I see Tobias standing next to Caleb. "Four help me!" I call out, but he just grins. My legs won't move. I can't run away! Tobias moves around and holds me up while Caleb punches me as hard as he can.

"I'm sorry, does that hurt, little girl?" Both boys laugh while I cry. Then I wake up screaming. It was just a dream! It was just a dream! I sigh and look at my phone. It's 5:00 and I have three new messages. I open my messages.

CHRISTINA: Hey my mom said it's OK if everyone comes to my house this weekend 2 practice the play.

MARLENE: Want to come over this afternoon?

CALEB: Your needed at home.

I responded back to Caleb's text: Needed as a punching bag.

My backpack is still at my house so I jog home and grab up my script and papers. Where's my binder? I look around everywhere for it but still can't find it. Then I remember...I left it at Four's house. Ugh! I am not going back over there so I will just have to live without it for a day.

Caleb's car isn't here and my mother is asleep. I haven't even changed out of the clothes I wore yesterday. I still have a hoodie on and my pants are covered in dirt and bits of bark from climbing the tree.
