It Was An Accident

Season Two: Episode 6

"We gotta get outta here," Conner said.

"Where will we go, Conner? I don't know about you, but I can't think of any low key places in..." Vosh looked at a discarded paper, "Metropolis." He added.

Vosh noticed Conner's eyes flick to a vending truck behind him. He glanced over his shoulder and saw an image of a corn field displayed on the side.

"So you're thinking somewhere rural? Smart. Cadmus probably has cameras everywhere around here, but farmland? Unlikely." Said Vosh.

Conner, looking as if he just had a vision of his own, smiled at him. A light bulb clicked on over his head. "Come on guys, we're going home." He said.

Before Vosh could ask him where exactly "home" was, Conner was already pulling him towards a bus stop. Between Conner's superhuman strength, speed and the fact that he didn't have any ideas himself, Vosh didn't protest.

Conner reached into his purse and paid both of their fares. He was too oblivious to care about the dirty looks he got from a few men. Conner led them to the back of the bus and patted his lap for Krypto to sit.

Vosh sat beside them. "So are you gonna tell me where we're going? Or is it a mystery?"

A confused expression took over Conner's face. "Mystery?" He repeated as if he were tasting the word.

"What's that?" Conner asked.

Vosh hummed. "I guess it's something unknown, for instance, right now 'home' is a mystery for me. Because I don't know where it is." He explained.

Conner nodded. "So mysteries are things we don't know." He said after a moment's thought.

Vosh nodded. "Yep. So is home a mystery?" He asked Conner.

"I'm still not sure yet," He said bemused. Conner turned to Vosh and said, "You're a mystery."

Vosh chuckled. "Newsflash Con, you're a mystery too." Vosh whispered, just centimeters away from Conner's face.

Conner's ears burned red. He gulped and turned away, a smile on his face. He looked out the window and watched the city pass by.

Vosh leaned his head back and shut his eyes.

Darkness. It returned. Familiar with it, he relaxed into the pitch nothingness. Just him and his thoughts. Then, a set of luminous eyes bore through the darkness. A flaring yellow pierced through him from the eyes. "Remember," The familiar voice stung as it filled his ears.
