Supergirl Season Five: Episode 9
(Crisis on Infinite Earths 1)

Earth-38

Supernova stared at the giant tower. It was so tall that it vanished beyond the clouds. So tall that it could reach the heavens. A sigh escaped him as he thought about his father.

He looked down at his hands. His father's powers swirled underneath his skin. Tendrils of power swirled within his palms. He squeezed his eyes shut.

"Vosh," Said Conner. He caught up to Supernova before the others arrived. "Are you okay?"

Supernova opened his eyes. He flashed Conner his best fake smile. "I'm fine. Just thinking." He said.

Conner made a face. He wasn't convinced but they didn't have time for a heart to heart. "You sure? I know it's probably not the best time for us to talk, but I'm here if you need me."

"I know, Con, and I appreciate that. We'll talk later, yeah?" Supernova said with a pat on Conner's shoulder.

The other heroes approached the tower. Supernova, Superboy, Blackstar, Green Arrow, Batwoman, and the Atom stepped into the doors. Rubble from crushed buildings was scattered about.

"So is this the proverbial calm before the storm?" Mia, or Blackstar, asked.

"Something like that," Her father responded. "Remember Mia, whatever happens, find your mother. Tell her how much I love her."

Conner looked at Vosh like he wanted to say something. No words came out of his mouth. He sighed instead. Conner looked up through the windows and saw hundreds of shadow figures flying towards them.

Supernova gasped. He recalled an earlier time when a weaker version of those creatures attempted to grab him. It could only travel amongst shadows.

"They're here." Supernova said.

"Okay, when Lyla said an army, I thought she meant an army." Mia said. She gulped as the shadows thickened into more bodies.

"She did. It's just that we've never faced one like this before." Oliver responded as he took aim.

The shadow demons smashed through the windows. Tens of them swarmed each hero at once. They hissed and moaned, swiping with their bony claws.

A piping hot ball of light erupted in Supernova's palms. He blasted the shadowy figures that approached. They screeched and exploded into smoke.

He took off into the air and flew through a bundle of the demons. The glow that surrounded his body dispelled them into smoke. The loss of his father motivated him in more than one way.

His father's Life Force boosted his power. The circumstances in which he gained the strength to save the multiverse, however, boosted his hatred of the Anti-Monitor.

Conner used his laser eyes to sear through the demons. His anger was ammunition for his fiery eyes. The last 24 hours had given him a relatively brutal ass-kicking. His conversation with Superman only made him angrier.

Conner roared as he kicked up the power. The laser beams that shot from his eyes doubled in size and intensity. He wouldn't stop until all of the shadow demons were dead.

"One army, she said 'one army.' Its more like ten!" Ray Palmer exclaimed. He shot a ray out of his knuckle and disintegrated a shadow demon.
