What I Am
Season Two: Episode 6

Conner stirred awake as the car came to a stop. Somewhere along the drive he'd dozed off. His head rested on Vosh's head, Vosh's head rested on his shoulder, and somehow Krypto ended up in their laps.

Vosh's woke just seconds after Conner. He lifted his head from Conner's shoulder. His lips parted for a yawn. As he went to stretch his arms, he noticed they were holding hands.

Conner looked down at their hands the moment Vosh did. His hand tingled like it'd fallen asleep. Conner knew it was because of the purple current that flowed around their hands.

Vosh slipped his hand from Conner. "Sorry," he said with a sheepish smile.

"Don't be." Conner told him. His porcelain cheeks turned pinkish. "Any new memories?" He asked.

Vosh shook his head. "No. I thought I'd have a new dream, but it was the same one. I'm getting tired of kicking those guy's asses." He joked.

Eve took a swig of her booze.

"What are you doing?" Conner asked.

Eve looked down at the bottle. "Having breakfast. You want some?" She offered.

"It smells like brandy," Conner said shaking his head no.

Eve offered the bottle to Vosh and he shook his head as well. "I'm more of a bacon and eggs kind of guy." He said.

"Why are you drinking that stuff?" Conner asked Eve on her next swig.

Eve released a heavy breath. "This is what grown-ups do when they don't like the way that they're feeling." She explained.

Nobody said anything in response to that. How would they even begin to respond?

"Where are we?" Conner asked. He took note of the tall fence before them. The fence was decorated in danger signs and prohibited entry to everyone.

Yet somehow Vosh couldn't help but feel like they belonged there.

"Cadmus Industries." Eve answered. "A better future tomorrow..."

Vosh gulped and looked at Conner. He wouldn't be a prisoner again.

Eve looked into the backseat. "Welcome home, boys." She said. Eve exited the car without another word.

The boys stepped out of the truck. Vosh found Eve struggling with the gate. He lifted his glowing hand and a purple aura tore a perfect hole in the fence.

The four of them stepped through the hole. He
expected Cadmus Industries to be booming with activity. A mad scientist at every corner of the property.

Yet this building was barren.

"What happened here?" Vosh asked.

"There was an isobutylene explosion. Fumes were highly toxic, sixteen people were killed and the building was condemned." She answered.

"What was this place?" Conner asked.

"It was a chemical factory and lab. Walter Hawn used to say this is where the devil's work got done."

As they ventured deeper into the facility, Eve explained more of the horror story that ensued there. Vosh could hardly focus. The shadows that were once dormant began to move.
