Make It Out Alive
Season Two: Episode 6In the beginning, there was nothing but darkness. A blank depth of obsidian waves crashing over him. Ice cold and blistering every piece of his being. He drowned in it, sinking into the deepest pits of nothing.
Then, a scream. A scream so loud that the darkness trembled. So loud that his ears burned until nothing but that scream eclipsed his senses. Overpowering the darkness with light, A cerulean wave followed by the bustling technicolor of life.
The wave of light, white-hot and blazing, seared nothing away. It struck him, and he screamed in agony.
"Awaken," The whisper was hidden amongst the screams.
Vosh gasped as he awakened. His limbs burned where metal braces locked him down. He groaned in pain as he lifted his craned neck to follow the footsteps chomping against the floor below. "You can't keep doing this to me!" He shrieked at the top of his lungs.
The metal braces around his wrists and ankles kept him suspended. Giant tubes lined the ceiling in the laboratory. An ultraviolet fluid sparkled as it coursed through the tubes. The fluid rushed into the machine that was built around him, meant to contain him and protect the scientists.
"Let me out of here," He followed up weakly as he attempted to catch his breath.
His eyes slowly came to focus on a set of researchers below. They spoke in sharp, but hushed, tones near the motherboard of the machine. They carried on as if he weren't even there.
"Please let me out of here! I promise you'll never see me again!" He screamed.
He didn't have it in him to fight his restraints again. Even if he did get free, he wouldn't survive the fall. It was an easy 10-foot fall. Easy to perceive, anyway. Despite knowing death would be certain, he would've accepted that fate with no complaints.
Anything would be better than this, he thought.
"Luthor wants us to increase the dosage this time. Our sensors detected anomalies in the vibrational field. These disturbances only occur when the subject is awake." Said one of the scientists. She flicked 2 switches that gave the machine a roaring charge.
"But we're already at five hundred CC's. Based on our current data, if we up his dosage anymore he burn out. Not to mention the strain an output greater than the chamber can hold will put on this place. It could be dangerous for all of us." A younger doctor argued.
"Do you want to get on a phone and explain to Mister Luthor how your low-level hypotheses are hindering us from doing our jobs?" The doctor snapped.
The second doctor hesitated. He shook his head.
"Great, neither do I. If you want to do baby science, try STAR. If not, up the dosage and initiate the supernova sequence." She said.
His eyes widened. "But--but shouldn't we wait for the sedatives to--" He knew from the look in her eye that silence was the smart choice. He shut his mouth and turned with a gulp. He doubled the dosage on the screen.
The machine churned to a new pitch as it matured to full power. He watched the scientist follow the rest of his colleagues out of the test room and lock the metal door behind him. They stood behind the glass and watched as the machine spun him in a circle.
He clenched his eyes tight. He bit down and tried to go back to the nothingness. Needles poked his skin as the syringes clicked into place. He unleashed a shaky breath as he heard the lead's voice.
