"There it is! There's the halfbreed!" A man called.

Gunshots rang out. 2 holes tore through Conner's chest and sprayed Vosh with his blood. Conner fell but Vosh caught him before he could hit the ground.

"Conner? Oh my god. No, no, no!" Vosh screamed. He held pressure on Conner's wound.

The boy grunted in pain in response. "Just hold on, you're gonna be okay." Vosh said as Conner began gasping for air.

Vosh gawked at the Lantern. He couldn't believe his eyes. The beings that raised him, they sacrificed him for their own gain. They manipulated a child into doing their bidding!

"I'm saying maybe we're better off apart. Less people will get hurt that way." Conner said.

"Make no mistake, Su Novu, you are a creation of carnage... And I am that carnage." The Anti-Monitor blasted him with another wave of energy.

A powerful blast of red energy blasted through Donna's gut. A hole the size of a baseball tore through her. The blast charred every organ inside of her body.

"Donna!" Vosh screamed as she fell into his arms, lifeless...

"So now I'm an idiot for stopping you from getting yourself killed? Then so be it, I'd rather be deaf dumb than have your blood on my hands."

"Like Donna's?" Conner retorted.

Vosh jolted awake. He rolled off of the couch and hit the ground. "Ouch." He groaned.

Vosh stood up and checked the clock. It was 3 in the morning. He sucked his teeth and walked into the kitchen.

A week had passed since the failed mission to capture Lobo. He knew that because the days passed by painfully slow. Especially the nights. Nights plagued with reminders of every failure.

Vosh poured himself a glass of water. He took a sip and exhaled deeply. "Get your shit together." He whispered to himself.

Hushed voices echoed through the hall. Vosh hummed with curiosity. He followed the sound of the voices to the training room.

Dick, Kory, Hank, and Dawn stood in a circle. They were having a heated discussion. Likely, another one about last week.

Vosh hugged the wall. If they saw him, they'd stop fighting. They'd just pretend like nothing was wrong.

"What do you expect us to do, Hank? We can't just abandon him." Said Dawn.

"Why the hell not?" Hank asked.

Dawn and Kory scoffed. "You can't be serious." Kory said.

"I am. I'm dead fuckin' serious. Ever since he got to the tower, shit has hit the fan. We..."

"We can't blame him for things that were out of his control, and we definitely can't hang him out to dry. Have you forgotten that there's a bounty on his head?" Dawn asked.

"Of course I haven't forgotten! It seems like you fuckers have forgotten what we've lost 'cause of him."

"Okay wait a minute," Dick spoke. "What happened at Golden Gate wasn't his fault, we can't blame him for that."
