Something Bad

A golden bronze body of light streaked through the sky. It zoomed towards Supernova like a missile.

Supernova opened his hand, doing so with little care. An orb of purple light surrounded him. Protected him from his attacker.

The being crashed into his shield. A violent shockwave rippled through the air. Energy sprawled across the Oan plain.

Conner and the Lanterns braced themselves.

"What the hell is that?" Asked Kilowog.

"I don't know, but I'm not worried. Vosh can take him." Said Conner.

The ground rumbled underneath their feet. "I ain't worried about your boyfriend, I'm worried about the planet." Said Kilowog.

Ganthet flew over to them. He grunted and clutched his stomach. "We must return to the citadel. The radiation of this desert paired with the radiation from Supernova and Takion is nearing toxic." He said.

"You guys go, I'm not leaving him." Conner said. He looked into the sky at his boyfriend and the giant orb of light surrounding him. It felt like looking into the sun.

Kilowog dropped a hand on Conner's shoulder. "You said it yourself, kid, Supernova's got this. We have to retreat."

Giant asteroids shot by in the sky. They drew closer and closer to the planet. Finally, one crashed just a few hundred feet away and swept gust into the dark skies. More meteors came twinkling in the sky, headed straight for the planet.

Conner shrugged Kilowog off of him. He turned to the Lantern, eyes wild. "You can retreat, I'm not stopping you, but I won't go with you. Not until I see Vosh through this."

"Superboy the energy radiating off of them is much to great for one to survive, not even you. In a matter of moments all of us will be reduced to ash!" Ganthet exclaimed. "Supernova would never forgive himself if you were to perish at his hands. I urge you to come with us."

Conner winced as he contemplated his options. The stinging pain from the waves of energy melted his shirt. He sighed and gave a short nod.

With that nod, Conner, Ganthet, Kilowog, and the rest of the Lanterns flew back to the Citadel. They left just in time to dodge an explosive wave of feedback. A wave that decimated the valley below.

Supernova opened his palm. Supernova's power encased the golden man like chains of energy that he could not escape. He watched the man struggle against his power. Golden bursts of light sparked off of him.

"Don't bother struggling," Said Supernova. "You will not break free, not unless I allow it."

The man grunted as he struggled. "This cannot be! I have spent millennia gathering my strength for this very moment. It is why the High Priest made me who I am. So that I can stop you, Supernova, from destroying my home!"

"I am not sure who you are, or why you believe I will destroy your home, but I can assure you my goal is to protect all life. Your High Priest lied to you."

"I have seen it with my own eyes, Supernova! I am the past, present, and future. The living vessel of The Source itself, created to protect New Genesis. I have seen the future, and I see my world in ashes. I see you fanning the flames."

The orbs of purple light in Supernova's face widened. "I.. I would like to see this future you speak of." Said Supernova.

Supernova reached out for the golden man. The man flinched back, his teeth barred. "Stay away! You will not peer through my mind, to revel in your victory."
