Season Two: Episode 9

Vosh and Conner walked side by side. Though Gar droned on about features to the tower, Vosh could barely pay attention. All he could think about was what happened on the roof.

Conner was going to kiss him. In the billions of years Vosh had existed, no one kissed him. No one had ever made him want to be kissed.

Love and affection were foreign subjects to him. Growing up on Oa, he was taught complex science and mechanics for 5 billion years. The other 4 billion years of his life were spent trapped in various places, on various sides of the space-time continuum.

Vosh spent billions of years deprived of affection. Conner's hand grazing against his shouldn't matter to him. It did, however. The solar particles that swirled around their hands confirmed it.

Conner blushed at the tingling. He looked at Vosh and noticed Vosh look away immediately. That didn't stop him from smiling like a kid in a candy store.

Though he'd only been alive for a little over a week, he knew what love was. There were memories from 2 different men in his head, memories of lives he never led. With those memories, came emotions. The one emotion, aside from anger, Conner felt the strongest was love.

When Conner thought of love, part of him thought of Lois Lane. The other part of him thought of science and discovery. He remembered Eve saying the emotions he felt wouldn't always be his, and those weren't.

A burgeoning feeling began to grow from the center of those emotions. A feeling neither Superman or Lex Luthor could take credit for. That feeling was love.

Not for Lois Lane or science. It was love for the only person he'd ever known that didn't abandon him. The person that may not even be a person, but something else entirely. A love not even cosmic wars could get in the way of.

A love for Vosh. Conner would have to keep that a secret, though. At least until they annihilated the threat to the multiverse.

"...And this is the training room. We have weights, weapons, and equipment. Basically, anything that you need, we have it. Sometimes it feels like I never leave this room." Gar said as he wrapped up his tour.

Vosh and Conner looked around the room. "I remember this room. I-"

"You broke a hole in the floor when you were fighting the Manhunter and landed here. I know, it's like one of the coolest things to ever happen in this room." Gar finished for Vosh.

Conner shot them both confused looks.

"You were asleep at the time. A robot tried to kill me, no biggie." Vosh explained with the wave of his hand.

"Seems like a pretty big deal." Conner said. "Are there more?" He asked.

"From what I remember, thousands. But that war was a really long time ago, I'm sure their numbers have dwindled. Gar, any fun facts for us?" Vosh asked, giving Gar a pointed look.

"Uh.."

"So where is everyone? I mean, the Titans?" Conner asked.

"Ain't that the question of the hour," Vosh remarked.

"Uh..." Gar chuckled his nerves away. "I guess you could say we're taking a break. The others all had stuff they had to do." Gar answered.

"Are they coming back?" Conner asked.

Gar stepped to the heavy bag. "I think once they realize how important it is to do what we're all doing..." Gar trailed as he unleashed the mother of all beatings on the innocent punching bag.
