Chapter 10 - Danger lurking in the shadows

One Friday night, Madison was stood in the hidden room behind her closet, building a murder board.

Meanwhile below her, Madison's brother, Ollie was throwing a party downstairs for all of his college friends. It was a celebration of sorts, that the first semester of college was now over.

Madison could feel the pounding beat of the music beneath her feet through the carpet.

For once, she didn't have a party to go to this weekend. Madison and her friends wanted a break from partying, considering that lately every party that her friends threw, someone had died.

She decided to use this free weekend to be productive and start to build a profile on the killer.

She had Lexi's, Jade's, and Alex's pictures on the left of the murder board with the details of their deaths and how they were connected.

Then to the right, were the people who were still alive and were her main suspects at this point.

She made a list of secrets she could use as leverage when the time came. Looking back at the list once more, she felt like it just wasn't enough to keep her protected.

Lola was cheating on Carter with his best friend, Grayson; after Carter cheated on her first. Grayson was in love with Lola and was afraid of Carter finding out.

As far as she knew there was something going on between Grace and Adam. They had been fighting about something serious but she couldn't work out what it was. They always seemed so in love on the outside but really they were falling apart.

Grace had also mentioned something about Lexi's plan on running away right before she was killed but there was no proof of that.

Elena has had a huge crush on Grayson ever since kindergarten but apart from that she weirdly couldn't find anything damaging on her.

Brooke was a shameless flirt and she witnessed her being attacked by the killer, but Madison still kept her on the board. There was always a small chance she had set the whole thing up to rule herself out as a suspect.

Jake was clearly madly in love with Elena but no one really knew except for Madison. She would use this against him when it was time to take him down.

And as for Logan, the only secret she knew about him was a secret they shared. Something she could never expose. She could end up behind bars for life for what she did.

She knew he had family issues but wasn't able to pry any deeper when they were together. He kept his personal life pretty private. Maybe she could change that about him and find something useful.

She stepped back, staring at the murder board. Something just didn't add up. There was definitely more to it than that. What if they were all up against her? How could she tell if any of them were truly loyal.

Her thoughts were interrupted by her phone ringing. It was Grace.

She hesitated for a moment before answering it.

"Hey Grace. What's up?"

"Me and Brooke are at Lola's and we're thinking that we could meet the gang at Elle's Diner for some burgers. Did you wanna come?" Grace asked her.

Madison could hear the girls talking in the background but couldn't quite make out what they were saying.

"Yeah, sure. I'll meet you there in an hour." Madison replied.

She still had to get changed out of her clothes from school and dress into something presentable. Her make-up needed touching up and her hair needed to be pulled out of its messy bun and be styled.
