Everyone has secrets. Even from their closest friends. Sometimes from themselves.

There's a saying that goes like this. 'The truth will out.'

Madison had this saying repeatedly on her mind as her and Liam drove to the beach house, early Saturday morning.

She had snuck out of the house, avoiding yet another argument with her parents. They weren't exactly on speaking terms at the moment.

'The truth will out.' This felt extremely relevant to her, considering the circumstances.

The truth comes out eventually. It always does. This was her interpretation of the old saying. Unfortunately, she didn't think about how much the truth can hurt.

So when she announced to the group that evening, that they should all play a game of truth or die. She had started a chain of events that would lead to yet another tragedy.

Truth or die was a game her and Logan had invented when they were in junior year. They would play it every summer. You had a choice. If you didn't choose to tell the truth about something, you would be kicked out of the group forever.

It was brutal, but that's why Madison and Logan liked it. They enjoyed watching their friends squirm.

But this time Madison didn't want to play to just watch her friends suffer. She wanted to play because she was desperate for answers and this was the only thing she could think of to get them.

The gang sat in the living room, drinks in their hands, ready to play the brutal and cruel game that they hadn't played in a long time.

Madison was ready to play it at Brooke's party but then she got distracted by Logan and then all hell broke loose when Alex was killed.

"So, whose first?" Lola asks the group.

"Why don't you choose, Madison?" Brooke asks her, smirking.

"Your up first, Grace." Madison told her best friend, hoping she would spill about what was really going on with her and Adam.

But she didn't. Instead she spilled something much more useful.

"Lexi was planning to run away."

"What?" Carter says, his eyes wide.

"She confessed to me a few days before she died, that she was being threatened by her older brother. She found stolen cash under his bed and she was going to turn him in to the cops." Grace continued.

"Isn't that a motive?" Liam comments.

"He didn't kill her." Grace replies.

"How are you so sure?" Madison asks her.

"Because he told me what happened between them the day she died." Grace said, recalling the day she confronted him.

"Lexi told me everything. So you better leave her alone." Grace bellowed at Andy Davis, Lexi's older brother.

"What are you gonna do about it?" He replied menacingly.

He towered over her, but she wasn't afraid. Not one bit.

"I have an uncle in the police force. I can protect you. Anyway, I will make sure that Lexi doesn't turn you in. Just leave her alone." Grace promises him.

"How can you promise that?" He asks her.

"Everyone has secrets." Grace answers.

"She doesn't need to know about this." Grace tells him, firmly.
