Y/N hugged themself tightly as they waited for the subway. It was really, really cold outside, even if it was only early December. Really cold.
They looked up to the little screen that showed when every train was set to arrive. Their train was to arrive in...
15 minutes. Great.
Y/N decided to walk a bit further down the waiting area and get their blood flowing. Hopefully, it would warm them up a bit.
After a few minutes of pacing, they felt slightly warmer. Their cheeks and ears were still red, and they couldn't feel their fingers, but at least it was an improvement.
Y/N looked back up to the screen again. To their dismay, there were still 10 minutes until the train would arrive.
'Try to look on the bright side, Y/N - this means you will be warm in just 10 minutes! You can wait that long.'
They settled on pacing the next 10 minutes, to, again, get warmer, but also just pass the time. 10 minutes felt like 100 when it was cold and you were doing nothing.
When the train finally arrived, Y/N smiled in relief when they felt the warmth wash over them. They were even lucky enough to get a window seat all by themself. Perks of traveling early on a Sunday morning.
Y/N popped in their earbuds and drifted away. They barely even noticed when a larger man came and sat next to them 5 minutes after they got on.
Y/N flicked their eyes to him when he sat down. He was large, yes, but it was mostly his height. The thing Y/N thought was most interesting about him was his scarf.
It was a lighter color - almost white, but not quite. It was also very, very long. Went down to his knees at least.
Y/N thought it would be rude to stare, so they quickly looked back at the window and pretty much forgot he existed after a few minutes of drifting away.
When it came time for Y/N to get off, it just so happened that the man had to get off as well.
'Huh. We're both going to the edge of the city.'
After a few minutes of walking, Y/N realized they weren't just going to the same area of the city, they were probably going to the same street. Or place, even.
The two walked together, completely silent, not making eye contact. It was a little awkward, but hey, what are you gonna do?
Y/N felt a big gust of freezing cold wind come at them, and they gasped, shivering as they hugged themself.
"Cold?" the man said in a Russian accent that Y/N wasn't expecting him to have.
Y/N chuckled, "Yeah, a bit. Who wouldn't be, with this weather?"
Then, he undid his scarf and put it around them, Y/N blushing in flattery and surprise.
"Better?" he asked with a sweet smile.
Y/N couldn't help but smile back at him and his kindness, "Better."
