Art is not mine.

One of Y/N's favorite things about Christmas was making a gingerbread house. It had to be in their, like, top 3 favorite Christmas activities for sure.
However, this year, things were a little different.
They had a boyfriend now, England, and the two were spending Christmas together. Y/N really wanted to make a gingerbread house with him... but he was absolutely horrible when it came to anything pertaining to cooking, baking... or food in general, really.
But, Y/N, being the person that they are, was willing to give England a chance with the gingerbread house. After all, how bad could it possibly turn out?
Although they were letting England help them with the gingerbread house... they were still cautious. When Y/N was making the dough for the parts of the house, they were sure to only let him do simple things: adding bits of flour or sugar, pouring in pre-measured liquids, and getting out the necessary items.
It was going very well. The recipe Y/N used was phenomenal, the gingerbread just melted in your mouth, and none of the pieces broke apart.
Making the frosting was... not quite as smooth-sailing. When Y/N asked England to turn on the automatic mixer, the powdered sugar went everywhere.
"I'm so sorry about that, love."
Despite this, the frosting tasted excellent, not too sweet and not too bland. Just right.
When it came time to separate the frosting and put in the coloring, England put in just a tad too much. You know, so that the red looked dark wine red instead of the normal red it was supposed to be.
"I can't seem to do this right..."
England then somehow managed to place a wall piece on the roof, making it unstable. Y/N was too scared of the house falling apart to fix it, too.
"Oh, no.."
As for decorating the house, they decided to split the house down the middle. Y/N's side looked very nice, seeing as they had a lot of experience making gingerbread houses.
England's side... wasn't so nice. But, he did try, and that's all that really matters, right?
"It looks awful. I'm sorry I ruined your gingerbread house, love."
Y/N hugged England by the neck, "Don't feel bad, Arthur. Making the house is what's supposed so great about gingerbread houses, not decorating it. Besides, no matter how it's decorated, it's still going to taste good, right?"
It turned out, Y/N was right. It tasted amazing. And, while the process of assembling the house was a bit rocky...
"This had been my favorite part of December so far."
...Neither really seemed too caught up in it.
