Christmas was just around the corner, and Y/N couldn't be happier.
Even as they wrapped presents, one of the most tedious parts of Christmas, they had a smile on their face and swung their hips to the music playing. Christmas was just such a special time for them.
Then, they heard the phone ring. Y/N rose an eyebrow in curiosity and walked over to it, checking to see who it was.
It was their best friend and secret crush, Norway.
Y/N internally squealed and picked up the phone with a smile, "Hey Lukas!"
"Hello Y/N," Norway's emotionless voice droned, "do you have any wrapping paper?"
"Yes, why?" Y/N asked.
"I'm out and I don't want to buy stuff that's overpriced because it's so close to Christmas," he explained, "You have enough that you wouldn't mind giving me some?"
Y/N's eye flicked to the basket they had full of unused wrapping paper that they hadn't and wouldn't use, "Yes, I've got lots. Do you want me to bring it over?"
"No, I'll pick it up. Can't be asking too many favors of you." he said.
"A-alright," Y/N stuttered (although they weren't sure why), "see you..?"
"Within the hour," Norway said, "Bye."
He hung up, and even though he couldn't hear them, Y/N said 'bye' as well. They were excited that Norway was coming over, even if it was just to get some wrapping paper. They hadn't seen him since earlier this month - he'd just been too busy.
It also meant that they could give him his Christmas present early, without having to wait until the next time they saw him to give it to him.
What was the present, you may ask?
Well, it was pretty simple. Just a little silver cross pin that they found in the store. But, they thought it would really suit him.
Norway didn't live very far away, and before they knew it, he had rung the doorbell. Y/N hurried to the door and opened it, smiling when they saw their best friend/crush. He gave one of his rare, small smiles, making Y/N blush.
"U-um, what kind of wrapping paper do you want?" Y/N said, trying not to get distracted.
"What kinds do you have?" Norway replied, "The rest of the gifts that need wrapping are for Emil, so..."
Y/N smirked. Knowing Emil, he'd appreciate something like a dark blue metallic wrapping paper with little silver nativity scenes sprinkled across. You know, mature stuff. And, they did have something like that. However...
"Frosty the Snowman?" Norway said, that small smirk coming back, "You think just like I do, you know?"
He gratefully took the wrapping paper and started to make his way put the door, "I'll tell Emil you picked out that wrapping paper for him."
"Wait!" Y/N said, and he stopped, his eyes still bare but with a confused glint in them.
"Er - I have something for you," they said, getting out the little box with the pin in it and handing it to him. He opened it silently, and just started at the pin.
After being best friends for five years, Y/N thought they were pretty good at reading him, despite him being so emotionless - but for the first time, they really couldn't tell what he was thinking. Just that it was good.
