~--~*~--~

For some people, Christmas Eve was one of the most stressful days of the year. They rushed around, panicking to get every present wrapped, every child in bed, get to church on time... but Y/N always liked to just spend Christmas Eve relaxing. Y/N left all the worrying to the rest of December - Christmas Eve was just going to be a day to exhale and chill out.

After all, Christmas was just a few hours away. And, it isn't called the most wonderful time of the year for nothing.

Y/N closed their eyes, leaning into their armchair, savoring the warmth of the fireplace. Their house was a bit busy as the rest of their family did their own thing, but the living room was empty. Y/N was very glad for this.

Then, they heard a knock at the door, and, being the only one who wasn't busy doing something else, Y/N answered the door. And, it was probably a good thing they did.

It was their boyfriend, Iceland. He was in a puffy blue coat, holding a present and with the permanent blush that stained his cheeks brighter than ever. Y/N gave a warm smile and said, "Hello, Emil. What brings you here?"

"I, um..." his tendency to stutter when he got embarrassed came out, "I wanted to give you this."

He held out the present he was holding, not quite meeting their gaze. Y/N took it, saying, "You didn't have to get me anything, Emil!"

"I wanted to," he said.

Y/N opened it, revealing a three-pack of brand new fluffy gray socks. Iceland knew them pretty well, huh?

"Thank you! I could always use more socks," Y/N said.

Iceland blushed slightly more at this. It made Y/N fell warm and fuzzy inside - they always thought it was adorable when he blushed.

"I wasn't expecting anything, so I didn't get you something..." Y/N thought for a second before saying, "do you... want to come inside for a bit?"

It was pretty fair for Y/N to not expect anything from Iceland - after all, they'd only been together for four months. But, Iceland felt obligated to get them something, like they'd be mad if he didn't.

"No, it's fine..." Iceland replied, "I don't want to intrude on anything."

"Please, Emil," Y/N pouted, giving puppy dog eyes, "my family is busy doing other stuff, it could just be us in the living room."

Y/N wasn't necessarily insinuating anything, but Iceland still went even redder at that. But, he couldn't resist their puppy eyes.

"Alright," he sighed.

Iceland took off his coat and put it on the rack, following Y/N to the living room. Instead of Y/N returning to the armchair, they thought it would be best to sit on the floor in front of the fireplace.

Once Iceland had sat down, Y/N said, "Do you want a gingerbread cookie?"

Iceland shook his head, "No-"

It wasn't really a question though, as they had already left to go get one. Iceland rested his head on his knees as he waited for Y/N to come back.

They came back after about a minute holding a plate of four gingerbread cookies and two glasses of milk. They set it down on the table and sat next to Iceland, leaning against him and looking at the fire.

"I'm really glad I met you, Emil." Y/N said after a few moments of silence.

Iceland blinked and was quiet before replying, "I'm glad I met you, too."
