"Sit there, in silence. You can do work or read. I will come in from time to time to check up on you all" the teacher on duty said.

When he left the room, the other three people in detention started talking.
"What are you in for?" A girl asked me.
"Fighting" I told them.
"I saw that, she should be the one in here not you" a boy in a higher year said.
"Tell that to the headmaster" I muttered.

"What do you do in here for an hour?" I asked them.
"Well, yesterday we threw paper aeroplanes" a young girl said.
"Let's do it again!" The other girl replied.
"Calm down guys, she doesn't even know our names" the boy said laughing.

"I'm Liam" he told me, holding out his hand. I shook it, surprised at their nice behaviour.
"This is Mia and Hannah" he said and I smiled at them both.
"Now can we throw aeroplanes?" the younger one, Mia asked.
"Ok" Liam smiled.

We had 10 minutes to build our planes and the one that flew the furthest is the winner. I decided to make mine small, thinking that the air-resistance would be less then that of a big plane.

"Ten seconds left" Liam said. I finished decorating it and stepped back.
"Now we wait for Mr Button to check on us, then we can go and fly them" Hannah said.

I saw them get their phones out and hide them under the table to play on them. I pulled out a school book from my bag and started doing some work.

Eventually Mr Button peeked his head in, he tried to be silent but we knew he was there. When he was gone we all got up and ran to the hall, the biggest room in the school.

"I'll go first, Mia you measure" Liam said. Me and Hannah stood back to watch. He threw it and even made it do a spin mid-air. However, because he purposefully made it do a trick, it didn't go as far as he hoped.
"3 metres" Mia told him.

He stepped back and Hannah pushed me forward to go next.
"Can I have a run up?" I asked.
"Sure" Liam replied.
I got myself ready and then sprinted towards the line where I needed to throw it. When I got there, I threw it as hard as I could.
"7 metres" Mia said, giving it back to me.

Hannah was next, she threw hers 5 metres and even managed to make it go really high. Lastly Mia threw her plane. It went much further than anyone else's, to the other end of the hall.
"Woah" I said in awe.
"I've had some practice" Mia told me smiling.

"Have you seen the time? We need to go" Liam said, already running out of the room.
