"Y'all Remember, Right?"

Never had a Sunday passed by so slowly, even though we are doing the same things we do every Sunday: breakfast together (well, more like early lunch because I got home and crashed till midday), then movie, a couple of board games, and dinner with the usual question.

“How did it go at school? A lot of homework? How have your classmates treated you? And your teachers?”

“Good. A little. They’re all very nice.”

“And… have you made friends yet?”

A moment of silence while I finish what I have in my mouth.

“Yes. Well, I think so. I had an awesome time at the party with a group of kids and, yeah, I guess I could say we’ve become friends.”

“You were almost grounded for that, by the way, we were worried sick about you. No news, nothing.”

My father nods and my mother gives me a stern look.

“First and last time this happens. Understood?”

“I promise.”

We finish our dinner and I ask permission to call it a night and go to my room instead of the usual late movie, I tell them I’m tired and I’d lik to go lay down, and they agree as long as I do the dishes. Once I’m done I say goodbye and I go to my room, I basically jump on my bed and grab my phone, which I haven’t checked all day long and I really, really, wish Cris has written me. I unblock my phone and I have a lot of messages, 98 to be exact- no, 99. I just got a new one. I notice that the only number I have saved is Cris’ so I go straight to her chat; her first message was around five hours ago.

- Hi, Joanna :D

- I wnted to thank you for coming yesterday and for staying a while.

- I hope I didn’t get you in trouble w your parents.

- The party wouldn’t have been as good without u here.

- To be honest, I hadn’t enjoyed a party this much since a long time.

- And hanging out at the pool with u was…

- Well, I’ll just say I haven’t felt like that for a long time.

- I don’t know…

- Happy?

- No… I don’t know.

- Well, it doesn’t matter.

- Just… thank you 😊

- I know you’re spending time with ur family.

- Or maybe you’re asleep… and if you are, I’m sorry 😅

- I just wanted to write u and let u know all this.

- Bye.

- Oh, btw

- Please don’t be mad

- But I have the girls your number

- And Eva might’ve given it to Christian

- I’m sorry, they were being annoying

- And I was really tired

- Anyways

- Write me whenever you can

- Ciao

I, admittedly, laugh a little after reading all her messages and her giving out my number does explain all the messages from unknown numbers.
