I arrive at the location Cris sent me, it’s a small bar, one of those you just casually run into, hidden away in a corner of the city; but it’s also one of the prettiest I’ve ever seen. The music is not too loud, it’s not very crowded so the noise is minimal, and the setup is very cozy.

I text Cris to let her now I’m here and she tells me to go over to the back part and to one of the tables there, I follow her instructions and I see her sitting in a corner table on the patio of the bar looking at my direction and I am able to see her smile as soon as I walk it, she sits up straighter and waves with her hand. And its just like in the movies, the stars in the sky, the moon, the rows of little paper lams lightning the patio of the bar, Cris smiling at me, the background music, everything turns slow motion and doesn’t return to normal until I am seated in front of her.

“Hey, gorgeous.”

She looks at me and, for moment, her eyes widen in surprise.

“For a moment there I thought you weren’t going to make it, I was honestly only willing to wait for you for another like, hour… two hours tops. But no more than that.”

She winks at me playfully and I laugh while signaling the waiter to come to our table.

“I’m sorry, I kinda got lost a little bit.”

The waiter arrives and, to my surprise, he’s already carrying two bottles of beer in his hand, he places one in front of me and one in front of Cris, leaves a menu at the table and leaves while smiling.

“I hope you don’t mind, you were taking too long, so I decided to order.”

“Not at all but, uhm…”

She looks at me and I can tell she’s confused.

“What? Is there something wrong?

Cris looks at the bottles, then back at me, and then she raises her shoulders and eyebrow indicating that I need to explain.

“Uhm, Cris… its just that I…. uhm… well-”

Slowly, her expression changes from complete seriousness to a huge smile, her eyes crinkle a little and then she starts laughing.

“Hey, don’t sweat it, I’m just messing with you. Of course, I remember you don’t drink alcohol, its beer without alcohol.”
