*beep* *beep* *beep*

It was all I could hear and it was driving me crazy! I knew where I was, I was in a hospital. I gathered from the smell and, yet again, the annoying beeping. But it was like I just couldn't wake myself up. I've tried everything, but i just couldn't.

Until now.

My eyes fluttered open, and I looked around at my surroundings. I was lying on a hospital bed, in a practically all white room. My stomach was all bandaged up and my arm was attached to some weird bag thingy.

A woman walked in, and a look of surprise passed her face when she saw me awake.

"Ashley! How are you feeling? It's good to finally see you awake! I'll go get your parents" she told me, before walking back out. My mind was blank. I tried to think of my parents, their faces, or even just their names, but I couldn't.

The nurse walked in with two other people behind her. They both looked like me.

"Ashley! Oh sweetie! How are you! Are you feeling okay? Do you need anything?" The woman asked, rushing over to my side and bombarding me with questions.

"Who- who are you?" I asked, backing up slightly from her. She looked as if someone had plunged a knife into her heart.

"What?" She asked, horrified.

"Who are you?" I asked, my tone firmer this time. She backed away and ran to the man, sobbing into his chest.

"I think it's best if you leave for a minute while we run some tests" the director said, ushering my 'parents' out of the room.

I could still hear the woman sobbing from the hallway. With the door closed.

The doctor came over to me, a pen and paper in hand.

"I'm going to ask you some questions and I want you to answer them as best as you can, okay?" She asked, to which I nodded slightly.

"What's your name?"

"Ashley"

"Ashley what?"

"Remirez"

"When we're you born?"

"Ummm, I'm- I'm not sure"

"Where did you live before you came back to Britain?"

"I'm, America?"

"Can you be more specific?"

"No.."

She sighed and nodded, writing some things down on the paper while I stared at nothing, trying to figure everything out.

"Okay, I'll be back in two minutes. I'll get a nurse to bring you some food. I'm sure you're starving" she told me, smiling at the end. I smiled back slightly, shrinking into the bed.

She left and sure enough a few minutes later a nurse walked in with a plate of food. I opened it up, finding some sausage and mash with peas. I don't even remember if I like this.

I took a bit of everything, realising I hated the peas. They tasted like shit.

After I had finished the meal and the small jello cup that came with it, I placed it to the side and waited for the doctor to come back in, playing with my fingers.

The door opened and she walked back in, the two people behind her again, but this time they didn't run over to me.

"Ashley these are your parents. Joanne and Daniel Remirez" she told me, pointing to the two people. I smiled at them, and they smiled back, walking over to the bed.

"I'll give you three a minute" she said, walking out.

"Hey doodle. I know you don't remember, but, uh, it's me. It dad" the guy said, pulling me into a hug. I hugged back, feeling tears in my eyes. This felt right. I knew that I could trust them.

The woman- my mum, joined in as well and we all just sat there, comfortable with each other, each of us crying a little too.

I just, I wish I could remember. It felt like there was someone that was missing. Someone that needed to be here.

A flash of brown eyes went across my brain, and I had to say they were the most beautiful brown eyes I've ever seen. But I pushed it to the back of my mind. I'd save that for another day. Right now, I just need to stick with my family.
