5-late

Saturday came round quick and before I knew it, I was standing infront of my closet, rooting through the deepest, darkest depths of all my clothes just to try and find something decent to wear. Jake was out, again, so I didn't have to come up with some lie about where I was going.

I literally couldn't find anything to wear. At all. Everything I had loved before just looked unappealing. Ugh, this was useless.

Wait, why am I making a big deal of this. It's not a date. Just two friends hanging out. Nothing more, nothing less.

But something deep down felt different. Like it wasn't just 'two friends hanging out'. And I felt horrible for it. Maybe I shouldn't go. I feel like I'm cheating on jake or something.

No. This is hanging out with a friend. And if Jake has anything to say about it, then, screw him! I'm allowed to hang around with who I want.

After this mini conversation with myself, I saw a piece of whit fabric in the corner of my eye. I pulled it out, finding an simple white dress with spaghetti straps. I smiled, finally finding something to wear. I slipped it on, also grabbing my denim jacket and some black and white checkered vans, before running downstairs. I grabbed my round sunglasses from the table, along with my keys and phone, before plopping myself on the couch, waiting for Caleb.

8:10. Still no Caleb. I mean, it's fine. He's probably just running late.

8:25. Still no sign. Maybe somethings wrong. I should text him.

A-hey, you still coming?

It was a few minutes until he relied.

C-I'm so sorry. I'll be there soon. Just had something I needed to take care of. I promise, it'll be worth the wait

I sighed, shutting off my phone.

It was 8:42 when he finally arrived. The doorbell rang and I sighed, getting up.

Caleb stood infront of the door, wearing black ripped jeans and a white tee-shirt. I kinda felt too dressed up now.

"Ashley, hey" he breathed out, looking me up and down. I crossed my arms, automatically feeling insecure.

"You look stunning" he complimented.

"Thank you" I relied, still not smiling. He sighed.

"Look, I'm so sorry I was late"

"You were beyond late" I snapped back.

"Yeah. I'm sorry, but just trust me. Your gonna love what I have planned"  he promised. I sighed, giving in. He smiled, making his eyes crinkle up, making me chuckle slightly.

"Come on. This is gonna be a night to remember"
