August 13th -1945

Jisoo woke up to the noise of heavy vehicles, outside. Her eyes darted towards the wall clock. It was 2 in the morning.

She heard the door unlock and a tremor run down her spine. Stumbling she rushed to the kitchen and held onto every possible sharp thing she could. One knive and two forks was all she was able to collect.

Eyes wide opened. Sweat drops resting on her forhead. Heart was beating vigorously inside her chest as she heard the footsteps drawing near.

Fear, panic. Panic fear.

Her eyes were steady. A tall shadow formed besides the kitchen door, formed by the yellow bulb that hung on the ceiling.

"what are you doing?"

She only stared at the manly figure in shock that now stood in front of her.

Her weapons immediately fell onto the ground and she blinked twice before she ran into his arms. Taehyung was taken aback from her sudden affection.

Her body melted against his warmth that slowly imbued from him to her.

"where have you been? " she asked as she clung tightly onto his military uniform.

" Why didn't you tell me anything?" she asked again. Again, she was the only one asking. Only one wanting to know. Taehyung thought for a moment. A moment of mere hesitation that didn't last long when he wrapped his arms around her fragile figure and his grip was only tightening around her, pulling her closer.

Emotions had overpowered jisoo. Her mind was telling her to step away. Step away from the one she had hated for so long. Step away for god's sake!

But her heart blurred all the thoughts and she only asked one question after another like taehyung owed her the answers.

"All I could hear were the deafening noises of airplanes and-"

"jisoo, you're free to go. " This was the first time he spoke since he came back. The first time he spoke to her but didn't respond to her questions.

Jisoo's heart stopped beating for a second. His words overpowered her thoughts that seemed to be at peace for once in so long. In his embrace.

Her grip around him loosened and she stayed close to his chest for a second or two before she finally let go of him and stepped just far enough
to meet her eyes with his.

"you're joking? " she looked at him with a grim face.

"no. " he replied short. Eyes piercing right into her eyes.

Jisoo stood there for a moment, trying to process the words that just came out of his mouth. The words that she had been dying to hear since the day she was abducted. And now he looked anywhere but at her.

"major look at me. " she finally mustered up the courage and brought her hand up to lift his chin. He looked into her eyes, " what happened? " curiosity was spread all over her face.

"you're no longer in my captivity or anyone else's. The war is over. You're free just like your land is now. " jisoo looked stunned standing in front of him.

All the answers she was looking for were right in front of her now. She was free, free to go home. Free to be with her family. Free to live a life she wanted. Tears rolled down her cheek. After all these years she was no longer a comfort woman. She was jisoo,  a nineteen years old Korean girl, finally going to return back home.

Taehyung on the other hand had lost more than ever. He lost his family to this war. His home, his childhood and now.. He was going to loose jisoo. Of course he knew that she was never his to begin with. She and all other women like her that were captivated and brought to the stations were never meant to be here in the first place. They should've always had their freedom, their dignity. And now that she was going to have that he couldn't tell her no. Who was he to do so? He couldn't be more happier for her but there was a sharp ache in his heart that was now spreading in his body. He felt alone, alone and lost. Just once, just once if she had said that she felt the same emptiness within her just like he did right now, he would spend his whole life trying to make her feel loved, to make her feel wanted and would cherish her forever.

But the question was, why would she? Why would she pick a monster in uniform over her beloved family? Why would she pick someone who was equally responsible for all the bad times she had to go through and not be the happiest girl to be able to hug her mom and dad unlike him?

"

I am finally going home." a warm smile spread across her lips.
