Silence. There was complete silence.

Alot had been revealed in a few moments. A lot more than it should've been. Alot had been asked and a lot had been answered. Taehyung decided to take a walk home because he needed some fresh air.

Jay isn't your child. He is not your son.

The words of Mr. Lau, floated in his head and his blood boiled. He swore he still loved him the same even if he wasn't his child. He loved him to bits. It was the betrayal that he felt. A strong ache that spread in his body.

"Lisa was pregnant before you found her. She talked to me about it and the only thing we.. I felt right was to keep it a secret until I thought you were ready to listen to the truth. "

"why why, you told this to me now? "

"because you deserved to know."

"Taehyung promise me that you won't treat them any differently. Lisa shouldn't know that you're aware of her truth. At least not now. Not until you fix your relationship. "

He remembered all the conversation word by word.

"ha ha! You think this would fix this? " his head was pounding.

" you can't ruin this. "

"I never wanted to get married in the first place. I never wanted to be committed to anyone.. " he threw his face in his palms.

"anyone other than jisoo. " he whispered.

He knew back then he didn't have the courage to confess it to her. Even if he had to suffer in silence throughout his life but now.. Now it was different. 5 years of separation had taught her what he did not know before.

It is always better to let someone know that you love them before its too late.

"are you in your senses?"

"you know, I feel like now I came in my senses. "

"I saw how you looked at her today. "

"because she's the only person who I loved after my parents. She is the only one. Even if I can't have her. She'll always be the one I love."

"just give it some time. You'll know what to do. Just give it some time. Let the life work for you. But also please remember my promise."

"promise? " he whispered to himself, walking on the empty street.

*flash back*

"m-major? "she called out his name again.

"jisoo, it's gonna be okay. I promise you." he spoke. Realising that this was the first ever promise he had made to her in all this time. His first promise. Yet he didn't even know if he was going to be okay.

-

"where have you been?" asked Lisa as soon as she saw Taehyung entering the house. He continued walking as he hung his coat aside.

"I've asked you something, I was worried. "she repeated. He looked at her. He stared at her perfect face. "I'm sorry, I was with Mr. Lau. " he replied short and went straight into his bedroom.

"is Jay sleeping? "

"yep, it's 10 already." she replied as she joined him in bed.

"what did you guys talk about? "she asked as she ran her fingers through his hair.

"you. " he responded and observed her closely.

"me? What did he say?" she asked. She looked curious and Taehyung only enjoyed her curiosity.

"go to sleep lisa. I'm tired. " he told her. "but -" she said in a conversational tone.

"goodnight, honey. "he said and turned off the side lamp.
-

"what are you doing here? "jisoo's eyes widened in surprise as she almost dropped the dishes in her hand.

" I came to see you. "

"major you can't.. I work here. How did you even know I was here? " she asked putting the dishes down.

"jisoo why are you ignoring me? I want us to talk! "he pleaded in front of her. "is it the fact that you still bear that hate for me from the past? "he asked.

"I don't hate you anymore. Please,we have nothing to talk about. " she responded. "please I can't afford to lose this job. "

"you won't. " he assured her. She looked tired. There were so many questions he wanted to ask her. He looked at her like someone looks at somthing he can't have. Her hair had grown longer. She looked a little older than her age, he thought what kind of
life she had been living.

"are you happy? " she was taken aback by his question. Who cared if she was happy or not.

"I am. " she looked anywhere but at him.

Yea right.

"how's your family? How's your life? " he questioned. Questions after questions but he just wanted to know the truth that she had been hiding. What happened to the jisoo who was so excited to be back.

"everything's good. Just like how I thought it'd be. " she responded, faking a smile.

"are you sure? "he questioned her.

"Yes! Please leave me alone, right now. Even you shouldn't be here talking to me like that." she tried hard to keep her tears inside. He almost reached for her hand but something stopped him.

"please. " she pleaded again. She was afraid of losing the only job she had after being struggling for years. If she lost this one she wouldn't have anywhere else to go.

" I will leave but promise me you'll meet me tonight. " he looked at her like he only expected yes from her.

"I can't tonight. Major why don't you -"

"tomorrow ?" he was adamant.

"I've my job. " she responded sternly.

"tomorrow night? "

"ugh fine. I promise. But please leave. "

"I'll see you tomorrow near the train station then. I'll be waiting for you jisoo."

She simply nodded.

"take care." he whispered before he left.

She only wished it was this simple.. She didn't even know if she'd have any answers to any of his questions. She was a bit scared now because she didn't know what would he think of her after he knew the truth.

She just didn't know.
