My eyes watered as I took in the pair of news on the television. The father of my daughter finally owns The Wilson Industries. And, he is engaged now-to the daughter of one of his father's friend. It seems an arranged marriage, the way they are holding hands awkwardly and giving forced smiles to the media. I should be happy for him, I am happy. He was finally settling down.
But what worried me was this current situation. With him getting engaged and Adelaide bombarding me with new questions everyday. If these two ever come across, it would ruin everything, for everyone.
The sound of the doorbell brought me out of my thoughts, it was Ade. Jeanie haf picked the kids from school today. Quickly dabbing my tears up and forcing a smile, I opened the door.
"Look who's back from school!" The fake smile disappeared on looking at my little girl standing at the door. "So, how was your day? Anything you'd share with Mommy?"
"Yes..." She flopped down on the bed, her voice lowering. "The school is celebrating father's day tomorrow. They want us to bring our Dads."
"Oh..."
"Will Daddy come?" She looked up at me with expectant eyes.
"I-I don't know, sweetheart. You know that he's got work. Could I come instead?"
"It is Father's Day! What would you do there?"
"I'm-I'm sorry sweetie. If I coul-"
"It's fine." She cut me off. But her voice, it was actually fine. She wasn't throwing a tantrum or crying. She looked normal. "You can come. Maybe John and Mark would bring their mothers too."
"Thank you and sorry." I hugged her tightly, pressing a kiss on her forehead.
"I'm hungry. Please make me somethin'?"

Adelaide
As soon as Mommy went to the kitchen, I ran into our room to call him, my Daddy. I took out the sheet of paper with his number from my toy basket and dialed it on Mommy's phone. He picked the call instantly.
"Daddy!" I whisper yelled.
"Hey Adelaide...so, any special news for me?"
"Yes, I've a Father's day celebration at school tomorrow. Will you come?"
"Sweetie...I-"
"Please..."
"But what about your mother an-"
"She might be there, I dunno. Please come...I want you there, it's father's day. All my friends are bringing their fathers. I don't want to be the only one alone. They'll be playing football together as well. It will be fun."
"Fine...I'll make it. At what time?"
"Nine in the morning." I heard Mommy call me from the kitchen. "Mommy's calling me. You know my school, right?"
"Yep."
"Goodbye Daddy, I love you."
"Love ya too."

"Will you be there tomorrow?" I asked Mommy as we walked hand in hand, our usual evening walk.
"I'll try my very best, Ade." Her voice lowered. "Although I have a meeting tomorrow as well."
"Don't worry. It's fine if you can't make it."
"You've grown up a lot, you know that?" She stopped to ruffled my hair.
"Do you think I'll be able to meet Daddy ever?"
"I-I'm sure you will meet him someday."
"When?"
"I don't know. Whenever the time comes."
"What would happen if I met him?" I saw her eyes change, the way they do when she's building up a fantasy story to tell me.
"It might rain...a lot. Amd then when the sun would rise, you could see a rainbow afterwards, perhaps."
"A rainbow!"
"Yes, a rainbow." She smiled and we started to walk back home.
"Don't you get angry with him...because he stays...away?" I asked as we walked out of the elevator and towards our house. As we neared the door, we saw Mark and John standing with their 'mothers'.
"Hey Cat! Do me a favour?" Jeanie held Mommy's arms which means that Mommy will have to take care of the boys till Jeanie comes back.
"Sure..."
"Can you take care of these troublemakers," She nudged them in our direction. "We-Jane and me-we're going to a date. Heading things back up."
"Enjoy yourselves." Mommy gives them her assuring smile. "We'll have fun, won't we?" She asked, ruffling Mark's hair. Great, so now I'll be ignored for hours.
"Thank you so much." With a side hug, they left holding hands.
"So, movie!?" Mommy grinned at Mark and John.
"Yes!" They shriek in over excitement and ran into our house, quickly jumping and sitting down on the couch.
Boys...
"So, what do you guys want to watch?" She asked and ruffled their hair.
"Spider-Man!" They screamed at the top of their lungs, making me roll my eyes. Can't they say the same thing in a low voice?
"Spider-Man it is." Mommy smiled, putting on the superhero's movie on Netflix.
Then she went into the kitchen and quickly brought us some cookies.
"Hey Mommy..." I whispered close to her ear, to not disturb the boys from their movie.
"Yes, sweetie." She wrapped her arms around me and I finally felt like I had received some attention.
"Is that what Daddy does?" I jut my head in the television's direction. "Fight for the world?"
"Umm...Ade...maybe he doesn't fight like that." She stopped for a few seconds, then spoke again. "Maybe he saved the world...economically."
"Ecomilacally?"
"It's economically darling. He is in charge of money related stuff."
"Money? So he works against thieves?"
"How should I explain this to you? He's sort of-"
"Never mind." I cut her off, smiling.
Never mind, I'll myself ask him tomorrow.
