Chapter 48

*Alex's P.O.V*

So today, I thought I'll go over to Kayleb house and have a talk with him.

I knew that I had to do this because Matt is going to be going back to Atlanta in a couple of days so I wanted to be able to get this out of the way and then spend time with Matt for as long as I can until he's on his way to the airport.

So I drove to Kayleb's house and had saw his car in his driveway.

Ellie's car was also here meaning that they are together right now.

I'm not so sure if this is the right time to bother him and try to make amends but I have no choice. It's my only choice.

I'm not doing this because it feels forced. I genuinely want to talk to him and work things out.

Kayleb is stubborn at times so like some of the things that he says doesn't surprise me. But he could be a smart mouth so his words can catch me off guard sometimes.

So I slowly got out of my car and walked up to the front porch.

Taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door and waited.

A few minutes went by before the door was opened and there was Kayleb.

"I wasn't expecting you to be here." He crossed his arms.

I was about to talk but then he started to talk again.

"Did you come to my house to yell at me or slap me again?? Was what you did yesterday not enough for you?" He asked me.

"Kayleb, I wanted to come and apologize to you. I was completely out of line and shouldn't have said what I said to you." I told him.

He didn't seem fazed. It's like he wasn't buying what I was saying.

"Let me ask you this. Have you ever had a friend who completely accuses you of doing something when you haven't done anything wrong? Have you ever had a friend who comes to seek questions out of you and just thinks you're lying? Ever had a friend who just thinks you're not acting like yourself when in reality you have? Alex, we both have so much to be sorry for. But you crossed the line with both Ellie and myself." He said.

Kayleb is smart. Even though he doesn't act like it sometimes.

"I was in the wrong and I had a lot of time to think about what I did wrong and how I want to make it right."

He took a deep breath. "How can you possibly fix what you did? You made me so angry. It was a completely different side of you and it was the first time I've ever seen it."

"I really am sorry, Kayleb."

"Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. That's all I hear from you. I've heard you say that so many times the past few minutes. I heard you the first time. I just don't think you get it." He just suddenly blurted out.

I can tell that he's frustrated with me and I don't blame him honestly. I can be a bit of a handful.

"You know that Ellie and I like each other. Then when we finally start to hang out again where it's just the two of us, you completely make it worse. You completely make it a claim where we can't hang out but we're trying to see where it can take us. It's still all so new so we're trying to see what works." He explains.

"You guys made me feel alone while I was at my house."

"Don't make this all about you now. We didn't know that we were going to stay home and spend time with each other. It was a last minute thing. We didn't know and that's me being honest." He shrugged.
