Apparently as soon as I didn't feel any strong emotion toward anyone I was fine... I wonder if I can burn off Anna hmm...
Monday came again, all three Logan Ty Meg and Mac kept a close eye on me as if I could burn down the building if they even blinked.
"Okay guys what the hell?" I asked annoyed. Meg laughed nervously.
"What? You were on fire just Saturday don't expect us to not be worried" Ty stated ending up getting a jab from Mac.
"He's right though, we don't want you getting in trouble" Meg stated.
"I won't don't worry" I replied. I caught sight of the look Logan was giving me. I didn't say anything knowing him he was still feeling guilty.
After school Meg took me to a fighting arena different from the one we had. Apparently it had to do with me controlling my drive.
"So now I noticed, when you fight you tend to not even have a single reaction" I nodded motioning for her to continue.
"During all your fights you don't have a single look on even when the opponent lands a hit you don't react! How come?" I shrugged.
"My body goes on its own I don't have control over whatever it wants to do" I replied. She hummed. She turned around noting a few things.
"Say Meg?" She nodded.
"Yeah?" I bit my lip.
"How come, uh, how come you weren't scared when I took fire?" She giggled.
"Mar hun, trust me I've seen scarier things than a human on fire, and even then I wasn't afraid of you being on fire no" she paused.
"I was afraid of you getting hurt, you're new to all this pyro-monster thing so I was afraid you'd get hurt" I smiled at her then something had me perplexed.
"Wait how do you know about the pyro-monster thing?" I asked.
"Y'know you should maybe ask Mac about that" she said then pressed a button letting in the targets. My body moved on its own again leaving me unconscious.
Right after that talk I headed to the arena where Logan had taken me. There I met up with Mac.
"Hey Mara wanted to talk to me?" I nodded.
"I wanted to know more about my issue," her eyes widened. She sighed nervously looking around.
"Maybe its a better idea to ask Ty and Sofia"
"Who's Sophia?" I asked in confusion.
"Oh! Right you joined us only a few months ago!" I don't know why but that remark had me on edge.
"Sofia is a friend of mine, he's been with them even before I joined the crew" I nodded. Well let's see then-wait a minute.
"He?" I asked. She nodded.
"You'll see!" She said before running off to her fight.
Down at the infirmary I could hear grunts and uncalled for noises until I came to a door that read 'Bande Property of Ty'. Guess that's where he is. I opened the door which was a bad idea. A huge desk came flying at me. In alert I swung my bat cracking it in two. Its either I have a strong swipe a freaking good bat or the desk was just old.
"Oh! Mara!" I turned back to Ty. He waved at me to come in which I did. I stared at the graffiti on the walls.
"So what you lookin for Missy?" A guy with tanned skin almost black, hair gelled up in a way that reminded me of Brandon and all black clothes.
"I'm looking for you and a certain Sofia?"
The boy stepped up.
"That's me" I frowned confused.
"What?" I asked in confusion. He chuckled.
"I'm Sofiane Dhali, but everyone here calls me Sofia" I owed understandingly.
"What was it you needed?" Ty asked.
"Um, I wanted information on pyro-monsters" they turned to each other.
"You're Mara?" Sofiane asked. I gave him a nod.
"How does it feel to have your body burn at any emotion?" He asked. I thought about it.
"It just burns until I feel fire or something hot on my skin" I replied trying my best.
"Ah you're still at stage one then, its okay" he stated.
"How do you all even know about them?" Ty sighed.
"You know in this world humans aren't the same," he stated.
"I know that already," I replied.
"No what I meant was, people aren't born the same, some get abilities others don't" Ty explained. I was confused now.
"Okay think about it this way, how'd society react if a dog started talking?" I chuckled.
"That'd never happen its just above ordinary" he nodded.
"That's the same coming to pyro-monsters, they were above ordinary, something people had never seen before humans with the ability of fire but you know what was more extraordinary?" I shook my head interested.
"Humans developing other abilities like wind control, earthquake simulation or water control, there was even thunderstorm simulation" my eyes widened.
"But like we know them when you're a tad bit different to anyone else you end up as a lab rat, scientists ran tests trying to figure out where the abilities were from, soon it turned out the genes in pyro-monsters were a lava like virus containing nitrogen and carbon, they attempted to inject that into patients to see what happens but," he stopped.
"The patients never survived ending up getting burnt by there own power, the researches were shut down for civil security but some still run down in the black market,"
"That's why Logan's so worried about you, one who gets contaminated could die or if they survive have to live in constant fear," I looked down.
"What about you guys? Aren't you scared to get contaminated? Or what about Logan's family?" I asked. Sofiane chuckled.
"Logan and his whole family are pyro-monsters, while Meg is a forest bender and earth controller on the other hand Mac is a water bender and us? Well Sofiane here is an earthquake simulator and I'm a sound bender" at the same moment Sofiane held his hand to the ground making it rumble and shake.
"Woah!" I yelled in awe. Ty held out his guitar hitting a cord facing a wall. A few seconds passed and the wall shattered.
"Holy fuck-" I muttered.
"These powers are cool right? But they can easily go out of control" Sofia stated.
"You should quickly learn to control yours y'know I'd you don't," Ty stopped. He walked to me and put a hand on my shoulder.
"You could end up like the laboratory patients," he stated. I nodded sternly taking in the information. A million thoughts came to me but something seemed off.
"Say Ty? How did Logan learn?" Ty smiled to me. A sad smile one that hid the ghosts of the past.
"He never did" was all he said.
"What? What does that mean?" Sofiane shook his head.
"Go ask him" was all I got before they went back to there band things.
