I stared up at the ceiling of my room. It was midnight and I was unable to fall asleep a wrenching gut feeling tugging me awake. I groaned its been an hour since I've tried to fall asleep in vain. I turned on my phone staring at the time and date. I knew why I couldn't sleep. Tomorrow, or more like today, was January 5th. Isaac's birthday. I sighed getting out of bed. I needed some fresh air.
As I walked through the darkened streets my thoughts full of my old friend. I sighed and took a turn entering the town cemetery. I walked forward until I stopped before a certain funerary stone.
I still couldn't believe the name written on it.
Issac N'Gozi
A loving and caring young man gone too soon
Tears welled up in my eyes as I took a seat before it.
"A nichè Koro, its been a while since I've come here, you might think I'm deserting but really" I breathed in.
"I've been avoiding trouble with the police lately and trying to keep the bit of sanity I have," I chuckled.
"We miss you Koro, and its been years since I've met up with the rest," I sigh.
"Leticia is trying to enter the army, Cass wants to be an activist always defending others, Moussa has shown progress since the last time according to what Azrael said, Azrael has gotten married he's father of a daughter her name is Victoria, Hamza will be going to uni soon, we hope and Djen" I breathed in.
"She doesn't remember anything from that day and we decided to not tell her, she knows you died of blood infection though and that's that, she's auditioning for a show in New York, she went through and got a role," I smile sadly.
"As for me," I halt. I nervously scratch my arm.
"I've been trapped between my nightmarish dream for a two years until, I met him, his name is Logan and wow, he's so nice and sweet and shy and so much I can't explain!" I giggle.
"I've never felt this since, since..." I sniff.
"Since Charleston moved," I mutter. I whip the tear away but they keep falling I sob for a few hours before I feel the sun rise.
"I miss you Issac, we all do, but at least we know you're free" I chuckled.
"I just wished you'd gotten to see the sun rise one more time before your eyes closed" I mutter. I freeze when I sense someone. I turned around and my heart almost stops.
"Ah, and I thought I would be the first one here" I stared at the black skinned boy. He was a year older than me but that didn't affect our undying friendship. Tears made there way up again.
"Cassey" he smiled a toothy one showing his fangs. He held out his arms the right one covering in tattoos that went up hiding beneath the white shirt.
"We missed you too, Riles" I choked on my laughter at his words running into his arms.
For once the sun rise didn't feel gloomy to me anymore.
